A peaceful haven in early September. A family-friendly, intimate campground ideally located for hiking. Excellent dining featuring fresh ingredients. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Everything works, but it could use a little sprucing up here and there.

We had a wonderful stay there. The owners were friendly. You can also grab a bite to eat in the evening—they have a small menu. It’s a beautiful, spacious spot with plenty of shade.

The bathroom is clean, though a bit dated.

In a peaceful, natural setting along the banks of the Ubaye River, you can relax in the shade of the trees and listen to the sound of the river while planning a variety of activities—many of which start right nearby!

This little getaway at Le River Campground was very enjoyable. The restrooms were spotlessly clean, and the staff was very welcoming. We were at the very end of the campground, right next to the river, which allowed us to truly connect with nature—it felt like we were up in the treetops! There’s a restaurant on the campground, and we ordered a pizza that turned out to be excellent, made with fresh ingredients... The appetizer was served with tasty breadsticks and a very, very good black olive tapenade!

We rented a fridge, and we would have preferred it to be on our site—it really was a little far away, but no big deal!

A wonderful campground in the French Alps! 🏔️ Stunning mountains, beautiful surroundings, and so much to do. We camped here for two weeks and weren’t bored for a single moment. Highly recommended! 🇫🇷⛺

Great stay—the Xaming is ideally located between Gap and Barcelonnette. The bungalow is very functional, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The peace and quiet are fantastic.

Great campground: small and really nice! Quiet, clean, well-maintained restrooms (cleaned 3 times a day), bread delivery service, bar & restaurant (good pizzas and salads), beautiful surroundings with plenty to do. Very friendly and helpful owners, Laetitia and François—it’s as if they’ve been doing this for years (their first year is 2026)!

We had a wonderful vacation at this cozy and child-friendly campground on the Ubaye River. The owners, who were in their first season, were very friendly and approachable. Fresh bread every day, plenty of friends for our kids to play with, and more than enough things to do in the area. We had a fantastic vacation!

Unfortunately, swimming is no longer allowed in the small lake; we were disappointed by this because we understood that it used to be permitted. Nevertheless, there is a (small) swimming pool at the campground and a beautiful swimming lake nearby (free parking).

The people who run the campground are very friendly and helpful; there's a nice restaurant at the campground and the surrounding area is beautiful.

The location is very beautiful. It’s situated on a gorgeous, though wild, river. The campsites are shaded. The owner is very friendly and speaks English well.

The pool is a bit small, but that didn't bother the kids much because there are more than enough great places to swim nearby. Alternatives for those with allergies or food intolerances. They were very accommodating, though, and made sure we could still have dinner at their restaurant one evening.

Zwembad was wel erg klein en nodigde niet zo uit. Jammer dat er weinig gezinnen met tieners waren, terwijl de vele outdoor activiteiten juist voor tieners aansprekend zijn.

The owners are an extraordinarily kind, welcoming couple who truly go above and beyond—their service is way beyond 10/10! ​Since I don't speak French, the owner made a phone call on my behalf. When water entered our tent, they instantly offered to help. They trusted us without even knowing us, letting our young kids (ages 3 and 7) get bread and ice cream freely, and lending us an electric adapter straight away. The campsite is super peaceful and silent after 10 PM. It is very clean, It has a small lake with two paddle surfboards that our kids loved. The pizza is big, cheqp and great.

We couldn't leave the car next to our tent but parking outside after unloading is quick and convenient.

A very, cosy feeling. Because the camping is small it's very personal. Beautiful location. Nice that we could order bread in the morning but also ice cream for the kids and nice drinks and fonds at the bar. The kids loved to play with the other kids that stayed at the camping. They loved the supps and the table tennis. We booked a raft trip at the camping, wich was really nice. A perfect base for swimming at the lake, hiking of cycling, visit Barcelonnette etc. We will recommend Camping River!

The sanitary was old. Lots of toilet seats were loose. And we were not used to bring your own toilet paper. But it was fine to bring it with us. But there were several signs of poor maintenance.

We had a good time in camping river. The view is beautiful and you can directly go to the river. The owners a awesome and very kind.

The toilets were to small and you have to bring your own toiletpaper. Everything is a little bit old and may needs an upgrade.

Great campsite in a beautiful spot in nature. Nothing but praise for this place!

Beautiful setting, plenty of activities in the area, rafting right from the campsite, bread service, a good restaurant, and lots of children to play with.

The swimming pool is cold. We ate at the restaurant every day, and the limited selection eventually became a challenge. It would be great to have two or three more options.
