Positive ting
Location on the riverbank
Negative ting
Disgusting restrooms. Restaurant options are very limited due to the season.
Not 2 stars
First, the positives. The staff was very friendly upon check-in and check-out.
The campsites with a view of the Rhine are, of course, the most popular and also very beautiful.
You can take lovely walks or bike rides along the riverbank. The real highlight of the campground is its location—close to... downtown yet surrounded by nature.
Neutral:
The restaurant is part of the hotel, but it’s way too expensive for a campground. The pizzeria is now only open two days a week.
Some areas of the campsite are paved. This has both pros and cons. When it rains, you’re standing on solid ground. However, you can’t drive tent stakes into the ground there if needed for an awning or canopy. There’s also a slight difference in elevation between the paved and unpaved areas. Otherwise, for the first time, I needed the full 25 meters of my cable reel.
Negative:
Wi-Fi isn’t essential for us, but it’s standard these days. It was only available near the reception area, not at the campsite.
And to put it very mildly, these restroom facilities are completely unacceptable. If you’re just staying there for the weekend and don’t need the restrooms at all, fine. But if you do… They have the charm of an old youth hostel or a German Armed Forces barracks from the ’80s. It was fall and chilly. The facilities weren’t heated because the entrance doors were always left open. There was a corresponding draft. As for the toilets, see the photo. The showers in the women’s area had significant mold growth. Not even a shelf in the showers or by the sinks. At the single sink—all of them open—there were no electrical outlets. The faucets were from the ’90s and caked with limescale. I’m running out of characters, but I could go on like this. No, dear operators, you really need to do something about this.

Positive ting
Beer garden, Rhine beach
Negative ting
little privacy, transfer time to the city center
Those seeking peace and quiet are in the wrong place
As this is a city campsite, you can expect a little more hustle and bustle here. This should not be a problem. There is a lot of arrival and departure traffic on the site every day, which is also due to the nature of the site.
It is somewhat unpleasant that the pitches are largely not separated by vegetation... and the bad habit of taking shortcuts across other people's pitches has spread. Unfortunately, people are also not impressed by the fact that you are sitting down to eat, they just traipse straight across the pitch. We personally found this very annoying and we hardly know it from other places.
All in all, it's okay for a visit to Cologne, but the transfer by public transport is a bit long.

Positive ting
As always, we liked the washing areas! They were always cleaned and tidied up - top!
Negative ting
Nothing really!
Camping once again top!
Unfortunately, as always on the Rhine, when it rains, it really rains. Something needs to be done to the paths as they flood in heavy rain - not very nice. Otherwise the pitches were good as always! The bread roll service worked very well again. You should communicate better about the bus to the town, because it only leaves from the site at weekends - during the week you have to walk to the slightly further bus stop (approx. 1.5 km).

Personnel Prices cleanliness no paved paths
tradition since 1931
Tradition since 1931, you can tell. It's nice that in this day and age you can inform your fellow campers here about the way in which the operators deal with paying guests in the form of arrogance, arrogance and a lack of information policy for their guests, among other things. Traditions can also end.

Positive ting
The location directly on the Rhine.
Negative ting
Pitches and paths totally muddy and dangerously slippery when it rains. Unstable power supply. Bread rolls very expensive in the morning.
A weekend in Cologne
We stayed at the campsite for a weekend. Basically a beautiful location, right on the banks of the Rhine. However, the pitches and especially the paths were very soggy and dangerously slippery due to the rain of the past few days! Of course nobody can do anything about all the rain, but for a 4* site... at least paved paths would be desirable. Just like a stable power supply! I thought our fridge was broken, but then realized the following week in Holland that the breakdown and flashing of the fridge display was really due to the power fluctuations on the pitch. For almost 40 euros, for two people per night, you can expect a reasonable power supply, I think.
The sanitary facilities were spacious and clean, and the staff at reception were very friendly.

Positive ting
Proximity to the Rhine; proximity to Cologne
Negative ting
Sanitary building only poorly clean; sanitary building facilities; noise early in the morning due to maintenance work on the site; poor leisure facilities (bike rental, direct connection to public transport...)
Campsite with no sense of camping. You have to do more for a good rating
Summary for lazy readers:
All in all, a 2 out of 5. Only providing a pitch with electricity is not enough for more.
Sanitary building not sufficiently cleaned.
Construction work early in the morning before barrier opening.
Bistro and beer garden closed.

You can save money, e.g. because there are no... vacations in NRW yet (in other federal states there were already vacations). But not in the wrong places and then still charge the same price all year round.

The number of washing facilities and toilets in the sanitary building was reduced during our stay. A good idea in itself. But the cleaning staff also seem to have been minimized. Toilets and washbasins, as well as filling up with paper, were probably done on a makeshift basis and also swept through from time to time. But if I'm there for a week and don't always see the same hair on the tiles, it's all just been done quickly and probably not by professionals.
There are no hooks, mirrors, sockets or heating in the sanitary building.

During our stay (one week before the start of the vacation in NRW), paths were refilled with gravel, trees were pruned, pitches were renewed (shafts, beadles, paving...). These are regular jobs that have to be done on a campsite, I realize. BUT does it have to be before 8:00? The reception with bread roll sales and the barrier open at 8 a.m. I think it's absolutely cheeky to allow such a racket on the site from 7 a.m. onwards.

For me, the sense of camping since 1931 (when the site was founded) has clearly been lost here. It starts with small details. For example, the homepage advertises a beer garden and bistro. However, there is no indication that these are not open all year round. There is a restaurant with good quality food, but this is more suited to a hotel or glamping. But not for camping.

I hope you at least think about the campers in the high season!

Beautiful campsite on the Rhine
The campsite is located directly on the banks of the Rhine, approx. 8 km from Cologne. Very friendly staff at reception. The pitches are level and large enough. The sanitary facilities are adequate and clean. There is a beer garden and small store on site. Shopping facilities are approx. 2 km away. A beautiful cycle path leads to the old town of Cologne.

Friendly staff, nice, clean sanitary facilities, cozy beer garden, nice, large pitches. Located directly on the cycle path to Cologne or Bonn.

From the pitch to the sanitary building, disposal of grey water and chemical toilet or filling up with fresh water is in the worst case up to 250 meters.

Great location, quite quiet when the planes take off in the other direction, very friendly staff, nice beer garden, pitches are also of a sufficient size, lots of leisure activities, quickly in the city and you have everything you need
Negative ting
Sanitary facilities were not as clean as desired, a lot of dirt and cobwebs, some amartures and urinals were defective, aircraft noise but still bearable.

All in all a very nice place in a great location the staff is super friendly, there is a beer garden where you can eat well there are always fresh bread rolls in the morning and everything you need for your stay.
There are also plenty of leisure activities, mini golf, the Rhine, cycling ......................
We will definitely come back, we really liked it.
We were lucky that the airplanes took off in the other direction while we were there. Otherwise the aircraft noise is quite bearable.

Negative ting
Poor transport connections to Cologne city center without a bicycle
2 beautiful nights
The site is beautifully situated on the Rhine kilometer 681. The pitches are spacious and are not parceled out. But that doesn't bother us at all.
It's easy to sleep in and it wasn't particularly noisy.
We didn't have any bikes with us as we only wanted to go to Cologne city center for one day anyway....
It was good that friends gave us a lift by car. The connection to public transport leaves room for improvement.
The bread roll service is a very good thing, even though we were a bit late and therefore didn't have much choice. We were still full and the rolls are good.
The food in the restaurant was good and went quite quickly. Beer was good to drink. Sanitary facilities good and clean.
All in all 2 nice days.
The staff are super nice!!!!

Positive ting
- clean sanitary facilities - quickly in the center of Cologne - located directly on the Rhine - friendly staff - delicious bread rolls - delicious beer :)
Negative ting
- Lots of movement on the pitch (used by many as an overnight pitch) - no offers (7 for 6, etc.) and therefore cost-intensive - no animation / youth room
Ideal location, friendly staff, short distances
We stayed here for a week as a family with children (13 and 15). The site itself is clean, as are the sanitary facilities and the distances are not too far. The staff at reception and on the site were friendly and, as is typical in the Rhineland, you are immediately greeted on the first name :)

The... site itself doesn't offer much in the way of "entertainment" for children. Apart from a playground, a football pitch (which is right in the middle of the caravans and so slows down the kids' fun a bit) and a table tennis table, that's about it.

Cologne as a metropolis is not far away and can be reached on foot in 1 1/2 hours, by public transport or by bike in 25 minutes and by car in 10 minutes.

The site is always busy, so there is a lot of movement in the form of caravans / motorhomes, which we personally don't mind - there is always plenty to look at ...

... the next time we want to go to Cologne, we would definitely come here again, also because of the lovely beer garden.

Bread rolls (except the plain ones) and the items from the store are quite steep, as are the overnight prices. But there's not much choice here and in the end it's still worth it if you look at what Cologne has to offer and put that in relation to an overnight stay in Cologne :)

Location, cleanliness and gastronomy. Very nice operators and a real feel-good atmosphere. But the location is so outstanding, right on the Rhine, so wonderful that it was especially great for the children. My three boys (8, 8 and 9) also loved it. Any time again!

Great campsite in a great location with very nice gastronomy
Many thanks for the friendliness, the very nice welcome and the hospitality that you really felt. It's obviously not just about doing business here, it's about people acting with passion and idealism. It was a wonderful stay and I hope to return again soon. There is no better address in Cologne if you want to camp. That is a fact!
