"Space with incredible potential - The place offers an incredible number of possibilities that are apparently not recognized. Close to the old town with a wonderful view of the vineyards and access to the Main. Unfortunately, all of this is completely eaten up by the condition of the majority of the pitches, sanitary facilities etc. It makes my heart bleed.

"Short vacation in the valley - We were with 2 adults, 2 children (8 & 11 years) and a WoWa with awning from 02.06.2017 to 05.06.2017 on the campsite "Mainaue". The pitch rent was cheap, we did not receive WLAN. Showers cost 1 EUR for 4 minutes (old wash house) or unlimited (wash house at the restaurant). After an unanswered email, we were able to make a reservation by phone at short notice. The campsite is easy to reach from the highway and is well signposted. In addition to the permanent pitches, there is plenty of space for tourist campers. The owner allocates the pitches, so they are well organized. Water points and electricity connections are few and far between. We rarely need the full cable for power supply. Electricity is charged at a flat rate up to a consumption of 4 kWh/night. The site is in a very beautiful location. You can see vineyards directly on the Main. The boat traffic on the Main is manageable. We didn't notice the road opposite. Lunchtime and night-time quiet is observed with minor exceptions. The adjacent municipal playground and sports field were great fun for the children. The site is an excellent starting point for cycling and hiking tours. The site is very popular with campers with dogs. Nevertheless, the site is only acceptable for a short stay. The old sanitary building in particular is only of a basic standard. The toilets and washbasins are cleaned well, but lamps, walls/windows are covered in cobwebs etc. The showers are no longer fit for purpose, no shelves, few hanging facilities. It is not possible to change undisturbed as the shower cubicle leads into a common room. Partially new pipes, a new boiler and a functional shower with three shower cubicles are the first efforts to improve the facility. However, the special charm of the restaurant and the lack of a concept for the garbage area directly at the entrance (a fence could help) still require a lot of investment. However, the very friendly service and the great surroundings ensured that we really enjoyed our stay. We had visitors from the surrounding area, who were also aware of the restaurant's good food.

"Large dog owner run loose around the campground. - The owner's large barking and growling dogs ran loose across the campground. There was dog poop on the camping spot. Sanitär was not cleaned in the 4 days we were there. Sanitary facilities are also used by guests in the Stube. Washing up at cistern in ladies shower! No possibility to put dishes there.

"Dogs welcome. Great view of the Main and vineyards. - Operator very nice. The food in the restaurant is delicious and fairly priced. Seats directly on the Main. In the fall we were unfortunately woken up at 8am by leaf vacuum cleaners. Very nice view of the vineyards and the Main. However, the sanitary facilities are too basic for us. Since we are dependent on them, this site is only interesting for us for a short visit. Toilets and wash/shower room are clean, but washing and shower facilities are very basic. No individual cubicles. No anteroom for changing when showering. Poor storage facilities for clothes. I don't know if it was because it was the last few days before the end of the season, but there were piles of bulky garbage at the exit. The sight was not very inviting.

"Delicious food - Restaurant with covered outdoor area. Good food, freshly made for little money. Attention: Chef's schnitzel really really hot. Very friendly operators. Don't drive in front of the barrier before registering, but keep to the right on the hard shoulder 20m beforehand.
