We were there for a week at the end of July 2023. It is a huge area, divided into 7 fields. The site is surrounded by Epping Forest, which you can enter directly. Many pitches are in the forest or on the edge, but without electricity. The sanitary facilities are quite old, but always clean. The shower... cubicles are very large.
The staff are super friendly.
You can make a campfire there. What you need for this is lent or sold. Unfortunately there are no bread rolls.
It's a quarter of an hour by bike to the Underground (where there are also shops) and about 40 minutes into the city.
When we were there, the place was hardly occupied. This of course influenced my impression...
