"A magical place for nature lovers, hikers and connoisseurs - It is much more than a campsite - it is a place to arrive, take a deep breath and be happy. Nestled in a beautiful, natural landscape, this site offers everything you could wish for in a real time-out: peace, warmth, beautiful nature and an atmosphere that is very rare to find. The area around Rothenfels Castle is a dream for hikers and nature lovers. You can set off on a wonderful hike directly from the campsite - the wonderful legend trail, with its stories, natural scenery and lovingly designed stations, is really something very special. You can feel the tranquillity and originality of the region. Oberwölz is also definitely worth a visit. Charming, well-kept and authentic - with historical flair, lovely little alleyways and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The campsite itself is exceptionally warmly run. Phillip Steiner fulfills this special task with an incredible amount of love and commitment. You immediately notice that this is not just a campsite, but a place with soul. His warmth and hospitality make your stay even more special. Rothenfels Castle is of course the highlight par excellence. It can be visited in summer and you can feel the history in every corner. There are also regular events that give the place a very special vibrancy. The fact that you can even get married here fits in perfectly with this fairytale atmosphere. I felt incredibly at home here and have rarely been able to switch off so well anywhere else. Camping Rothenfels is one of those places that will stay with you for a long time and that you can't stop thinking about. For me, an absolute heartfelt recommendation - for campers, hikers, nature lovers and all people who are looking for genuine hospitality. ❤️

"Beautiful. Dogs are not tolerated but welcome. - Dogs are welcome here and not just tolerated. The café is inviting. Good and modern selection of drinks (also regional) Free choice of pitches. There is plenty of choice here, as the site is not overcrowded with permanent campers. Extremely friendly and competent hosts

"An absolute favorite place with a very special atmosphere - For me, Camping Rothenfels is one of those rare places that you don't just visit, but that you take home with you in your heart. Everything is just right here - from the fantastic, natural location right next to the castle, to the warm atmosphere and the palpable passion with which this site is run. A big compliment goes to Phillip Steiner, the operator and private owner of Burg Rothenfels. You can see in every detail how much passion, responsibility and love he puts into this special place. I have rarely experienced someone who fulfills his task with so much warmth, authenticity and commitment. You don't feel like a guest, but really welcome. The castle itself is an absolute highlight and can be visited on guided tours in summer, and you can even get married at this historic location. The small café in the garden has also become a real favorite: wonderful atmosphere, incredibly good tarte flambée, delicious cakes and a breakfast that is served with lots of love on Sundays and public holidays. The bread roll service in the morning is also simply wonderful - there's no better way to start a day on vacation. The sanitary block: Perhaps not a sleek, ultra-modern luxury look, but exceptionally well thought out, functional and spotlessly clean. Plenty of storage space, hooks and everything you really need - you can tell that someone has put some thought into it. And even here, investments and renovations continue, which once again demonstrates the high standards of quality. The entire site radiates peace, freedom and naturalness. No sterile campsite atmosphere, but a real "pure nature" feeling with a beautiful view, plenty of space and a soothing deceleration. This is exactly where I was able to completely switch off and relax.

"Very nice vacation - We were here with our Sprinter, tent and motorcycle and felt very comfortable. Wonderfully located pitch directly below the castle with a beautiful view of the valley. The sanitary block was even heated, always clean and completely adequate. We particularly liked the fact that we were not forced into a fixed pitch grid. Everything was handled in an uncomplicated way. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The castle tour is highly recommended, Phillip Steiner does a really nice job. The e-bikes for hire were in good condition and great fun, unfortunately we only used them on the last day. We can only recommend the place and it certainly wasn't our last time there.

Welcome to paradise! Surrounded by woods and meadows, Rothenfels Campground is located in the breathtaking nature of the Wölz Valley. Enjoy its unique atmosphere, magnificent views and marvel at its intact flora and fauna. Rothenfels Campground offers its guests large …pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents. Here, you can choose your pitch yourself – camping couldn’t be easier. This Campground offers families, groups and permanent campers everything they need to enjoy and explore nature. Its location wows with great views and ample space to engage in sports, games and leisure activities. The possibility to light campfires allows guests to spend romantic evenings together. Several special features await our guests. The Campground is part of historical Rothenfels Castle and connected to the smallest historical city in Styria, Oberwölz. This shared cultural history offers many interesting things to discover, while the idyllic landscape makes you want to stay even longer. Take a walk through the woods and you might even find mushrooms you can then cook and eat with friends and family directly at your pitch. Active guests also get their money’s worth at our Campground. Gentle, family-friendly and well-signposted hiking trails lead you through the surrounding area and on top of the nearby mountains which then also offer more challenging opportunities for athletic guests. Lodges in the Wölzer Tauern mountains offer culinary delights while great trails lead to breathtaking panoramas. We are looking forward to your stay and invite you to take a time-out and enjoy our Campground’s “pure nature” feeling.
