It has the basics for kids: a ping-pong table, a soccer field, etc.
The road between the lake and the campground is inconvenient.
We had a campsite for 4 people, but since we had registered the fourth person after arriving, we had to pay the full rate for them.
On Sunday, we wanted... to spend the day at the lake; even though the campground was empty, we had to pay for a full day to stay on the grounds.
It had rained one day, and the campsite itself was difficult to drive on afterward.

We were at the lake for a hike. The resort is very clean and quiet. From 22:00 someone drives around and ensures peace and quiet.
It's not far to the lake.
The bakery is open early and has good produce.
The restaurant by the lake is very good.

Chaotic organization, dirty, littered and unattractive!
Completely overpriced, we didn't really want to go there again.
However, we now have concert tickets for the Toten Hosen on 22.08.2026 (Bostalsee) and wanted to book again at this campsite in 2025, as there is no other campsite nearby.
The website said "Bookings for this period are only possible from... 2026".
Well, we thought, let's try it on the first working day of the new year, then we'll be the first. "Pustekuchen".... enquired on 02.01.2026 and called all the campsite's telephone numbers several times to no avail.
My written request from 02.01.2026 was answered on 05.01.2026:
"We are already fully booked for the requested period."
This raises the question: How can this be?
Absolutely annoying and organizationally a farce!

Apart from that, this campsite is also an outdated, unclean, noisy campsite
The campsite has a good location, but is the only one there and therefore unrivaled, this is also the reason why nothing is done there, according to the motto: "eat or die".
Everything is outdated and very dirty.
But very expensive, there are no restaurants, although indicated.
Allegedly no music allowed on the site, but loud roaring for several nights and nobody pays attention.
Camping site absolutely not recommended!

I am not only angry about the campsite itself, but also about the booking organization!

The comfort pitch we had ordered was impassable due to the persistent rain, you sink in immediately and are lucky if you don't get stuck. When you get out, you are ankle-deep in mud. For a pitch in the most expensive category, the pitch should be much better. Camping impossible and then a €144 cancellation fee for 4 days. You can't see the lake from any of the pitches on the campsite, but you can see the Bostalsee campsite. The toilets at the entrance were very dirty and were not cleaned the whole week, simply disgusting

The worst and dirtiest campsite I've been to in recent years. The entire campsite was completely under water due to the persistent rain. It was impossible to drive on the pitch as you immediately get soaked. I can understand that nobody wants to go here anymore, only permanent guests on the campsite,... many campers have left because they completely mess up their caravans and motorhomes because everything is just muddy. It was not possible for us to use the comfort pitch at all, so we now have to pay a €144 cancellation fee for 4 days on this filthy pitch. I can only recommend all campers to avoid this site. The prices are completely exorbitant, never book a pitch in advance. You don't have a direct view of the lake. Never again Camping Bostalsee.
That is my personal opinion and experience.
Campers, stay away from this campsite.

All in all good
Nice place. Quiet location. The children can run through the bushes or kick a ball around on the football pitch or play on the playground. Everything in good condition. Very clean toilets/showers. However, they could be a little warmer. There are many possibilities around the lake. Whether hiking or cycling. Nice swimming pool at the Center Parc (5 min. by car) and an indoor playground within 10 min. walking distance.

Positive: Friendly, competent check-in at the reception, location to the Bostalsee, landscaped grounds. As the pitches in front of the gate are too narrow for Womos (no space for chairs or even awnings), I opted for a basic pitch inside. The size of the pitch was ok, but the surrounding ruins with their... permanent campers were very special. A little tip for the operator: have the ruined pitches removed or give notice, as other campsite operators in this price segment do. For me ... once and never again.

We stayed at the campsite for 4 weeks in October and have nothing to complain about. Only the opening hours of the reception are strange. The tree pruning should also be done on the paths (lighting of the road) and unlit boulders at the passage should be removed. We will definitely be back again.

Sometimes a little louder at night

The campsite is close to us, so we are often there on long weekends or at events. In the past with the tent, now with the camper van. Our daughter (8) loves the playgrounds. She makes friends straight away and the kids can run around. The sanitary facilities are modern and mostly clean. Poop bags for... dogs are also available. Often noisy at night due to youth groups, but that didn't bother me too much. The lake is a 10-minute walk away. There is a lido, and the Centerpark is nearby, where you can visit the swimming pool even in bad weather.

Very nice campsite
We stayed at this campsite for one night as a couple in a small "caravan". Everything was great. There is simply nothing to complain about from my point of view. Would love to come back! And will recommend it to others. The area is also very beautiful, you can hike and swim and visit the Saarschleife.... unfortunately we didn't have time for more. But you can certainly spend a real vacation there.

Classification as a 5* place questionable
I'll start with the positives: the receptionist was very friendly and the cleaning lady in the south sanitary building was tireless. But that was about it. We had booked a comfort pitch for 10 days. As soon as we arrived, we were informed that the water on the pitches was still turned off due to the... ongoing frost period. We were therefore only charged for a basic pitch. Unfortunately, we were rather unlucky with the pitch. It was totally soggy as the rainwater couldn't run off. However, the groundsman filled the muddy holes (there's really no other way to describe it) with grit so that you could walk on it to some extent. My family and I also found the campsite rather unkempt. Especially with a large number of permanent campers, the pitches and green areas would definitely be worth a proper maintenance. The bakery on site sells bread rolls and the bare essentials. There are no other shopping facilities on site. The leisure facilities such as the playground, football pitch etc. made a good impression. The miniature golf course is also long past its prime. Incidentally, the water supply was not only turned off at the comfort areas, but on the whole site. So you were forced to use the wash houses. The water system was also not put into operation when the temperatures were frost-proof in the second week and rose to over 20°C in some places. A conversation with a permanent camper revealed: "...they only put the water system into operation after the ice saints...". But why this was not mentioned anywhere beforehand is beyond me. In any case, we cannot recommend the campsite. The place never deserved 5*.

We were there in August 2017, originally wanted to stay at least 2 days, but left after the 1st night. the problem: The CP place is far from a 5 star place. rioting teenagers on the campsite, a security who prefers to watch TV than to worry about order. As neighbors permanent campers who use this place... as their main residence with everything that goes with it - but just not on a "5 star" CP. At the reception on complaints no reaction - at the cancellation and departure then the concession that "you have to do something" About the other things like sanitary facilities (look good at first glance) I can not give a judgment, because we use these things in the Womo.

Ideal for a short vacation
For us, it's a nearby destination to spend a weekend. It's wonderful to walk around the lake. The nearby Centerpark offers a good bad weather option (swimming pool).

Great campsite almost on the doorstep ...
As we had just bought a new caravan and were new to this topic, we chose a campsite very close to us. We were very surprised at how great this campsite was. There are lots of leisure activities around the Bostalsee. We highly recommend the pizza in the restaurant on the campsite :)

We stayed as a group at the youth campsite on the Bostalsee at the beginning of September. There's not much to complain about at the campsite. The sanitary facilities and the site itself are clean and there are plenty of places to shop and eat. The price is really excellent. It was a pity that the campsite... was not located directly on the lake as we had imagined and you had to walk about 500m to get there. The beach bath there also cost money. Even if the campsite is not to blame for this, it was disappointing. Normally I would have given the campsite 4/5 stars, but I have to deduct another star due to the strange and not exactly courteous behavior of the groundskeeper on the last day: 1. after we had taken down our tents in the morning hours on the day of departure and cleaned the site, we ordered the groundskeeper to do so so that we would get our deposit back as quickly as possible and not have to wait too long. After the groundsman had checked our pitch, we asked him to give the reception a short message (by cell phone) to get our deposit back. He was unable to follow up on the words "Yes, I'll do it in a minute" and was apparently of the opinion that he first had to clean the entire youth campsite before he could give feedback to reception. After waiting patiently near him for some time, we were finally forced to ask the lady at reception to call the groundsman and ask for confirmation that the site had been left "clean". 2. and this point is even stranger than the previous one. When cleaning up, we forgot to pack a soccer ball because it was lying in the slope by the fence of the pitch. The groundsman noticed it and, without saying a word, threw it over the fence into the woods behind. In this case, I think a question from the groundsman such as "Is that your ball?" or "I found a ball here" would have been appropriate. Even if the ball had simply been left lying around (we weren't the only group on the pitch), I would have been more understanding than what the groundsman delivered here. Fortunately, I noticed this incident so that we are still in possession of the ball. But to conclude: I can recommend this pitch, but not so much the groundsman.

Basically beautiful ....
The site is in the immediate vicinity of the Bostalsee and is basically quite beautiful. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the sanitary facilities leaves a lot to be desired. To name just one example, a urinal has been blocked for a week now. Nobody seems to care... Otherwise there is a lot of through traffic and it is very noisy on the site...
