A really great campground
This was our second time there, and I have to say, as always, it was just wonderful and relaxing. Everyone is so nice, and the place is incredibly well-maintained.

It was really nice to be able to reserve a site online. Our 7.12-meter-long trailer was a bit too long for a standard site. But we were immediately assigned a suitable site with a water hookup right there. Great. From the campground, you can set out right away on hikes in the Eifel. Because of the heat, though, we only made it as far as Nideggen. The restrooms are clean. The showers are set to a 10-minute limit, which is more than enough. Check-out by 1:00 p.m. is very guest-friendly. That way, you can have breakfast in peace in the morning, then pack up and leave at your leisure.

The plots could be more clearly defined. The plot numbers are centered, so it’s not entirely clear where your own plot ends. At first glance, there are only two sinks at the reception desk. That’s really not very many. Later, we found out that there are more places to wash dishes in the basement. Unfortunately, though, it’s poorly signposted. Coin-operated showers are now also outdated. These days, I expect showers and dishwashing to be included in the price. Trash disposal is only possible until the afternoon. After that, the area around the trash cans is locked off. Leftovers from the evening barbecue must be disposed of the following day.
A nice campground with a caring staff
All in all, a very nice campground. Easy to get to. For us, it’s the perfect spot for a short trip. We’ll definitely be back. Even though there’s room for improvement in a few areas, the friendliness and warmth of the entire team more than make up for it.

Long Weekend
The place is clean, well-organized, and everyone is super friendly. Check-in and check-out were both really easy. We were given perfect directions to our accommodation, and everything was already set up ☺️

The stunning natural setting deserves special mention. If you’re looking for peace and relaxation, this is the perfect place for... you. Despite the idyllic surroundings, you feel right at home there, thanks in part to the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, who are always ready to listen.

It’s a wonderfully peaceful place, ideal for unwinding. We felt completely at home and can wholeheartedly recommend the campground. Thank you so much for the wonderful time!

My family and I really enjoyed it. The staff are super friendly and very accommodating. Every site has running water. The restrooms are just great—always clean—and the 10-minute shower time is more than enough.
The quiet hours starting at 10 p.m. are also great. That way, you can relax a bit in the evening, too.

The digital assistant is very helpful and easy to use. It understands everything and forwards it right away. You get a callback quickly. You can now even check in digitally from your seat after office hours. It's just great.

We always feel very comfortable at this campground.
This campground is very centrally located for day trips and is easy to get to. We always feel very comfortable here, even for a short getaway. It has recently been equipped with a digital assistant for booking inquiries, and you receive a response quickly, even on short notice. The coin-operated showers... are inside the shower stalls, so you no longer have to insert coins in the entryway. The switch to euro coins in general was also helpful. We always feel very comfortable here, and the offerings—such as bicycles, etc.—are always being updated. Innovations at this campground.

The "Feel-Good" Campground
I’ve been to many campgrounds. What immediately struck me here was the friendliness—not just from the staff, but also from the long-term campers! Camping where you feel right at home—there’s no other way to describe it. You’re greeted with a friendly smile everywhere you go! Plus, everything was clean... and tidy. You can tell the campground is run with passion and thoughtfulness. Little details, like a holder for the scrub brush and dog waste bags available everywhere for dog owners, speak to the well-thought-out concept. I also thought the accessibility for wheelchair users was great.

Top Spot
The campground is very easy to get to and is in a great location.
I really like the “Du” culture—it brings all the campers a little closer together.
I’ve been there several times on weekends, and I’ll keep going back.

A very noisy place
Too loud; they don't take quiet hours very seriously.
There are almost no shopping options; if you don’t pre-order rolls for breakfast, you’ll get almost nothing or nothing at all.
We didn’t think the food selection was good, and it was too expensive for a campground—it should be simple dishes, like currywurst and fries, just to give an example.

Regarding quiet hours: We have strict quiet hours at our campground and enforce them—unfortunately, on a lively campground, it’s not always possible to completely avoid all noise. If there... were any specific incidents during your stay, we would have appreciated it if you had contacted our team directly—we would have responded immediately!

Regarding shopping options: Our bread roll service operates on a pre-order basis, and we deliver the orders quietly in the morning—which unfortunately requires you to place your order in advance. For last-minute needs, we have basic groceries available on-site.

Regarding our menu: Our restaurant deliberately focuses on regional cuisine and homemade dishes. Nevertheless, we’ll take your request for simpler dishes as a suggestion.

Cousins' Reunion
As always, it was wonderful; our rental units were very clean. Great terrace with a grill and furniture—which was even covered....Breakfast at SB Caffee was excellent; everything was there, just like in a hotel. Rieke, our server, was very attentive and friendly. Dinner at Stöffgen that evening was also very good. We’re always happy to come back!

The staff is incredibly friendly. I've never seen this at any other campground: a dishwasher that was ready to wash camping dishes in about 5 minutes.

For me, the drive to the campground is very short. I’ve been retired for years. I have a dog (a pug) and love taking him for walks along the beautiful Rur River.
Since it’s very shady there, you hardly notice the heat, and there’s always a light breeze. I’ll definitely be booking there again and again. I’ve already booked another stay for September.

A great spot on the Ruhr with our RV

Absolutely nothing. Everything was great—the people, the bathrooms, the sandwiches—in short, nothing to complain about.
A really pleasant stay
Site 401 was a great spot for our RV. Close to the river, close to the restroom building. Lots of bird sounds and, yes, the train every now and then. But the noise from that is really negligible.

Weekend at the Hetzingen Campground
After arriving without any problems, we were greeted very warmly and shown to our spot.
Everything went smoothly, so our short getaway began right at the gate. We really liked the entire campground. There were fresh rolls and a restaurant, both of which were good. The restroom facilities were top-notch... and well-maintained. We had a lovely, very peaceful stay. We really enjoyed this short getaway in our RV at a beautiful campsite on the Rur River.
This certainly won’t be our last visit to this campsite.

Chalet 1004 comes highly recommended. It offers plenty of space and a lovely terrace. The bread delivery service is excellent.

Our caravan is on the Rur, which we really like. It was nice and quiet. The toilets and the scullery are clean. We would love to come back next year.

"Divided in two" by Rurtalbahn, restaurant on the square
An absolute insider tip
The place is an absolute insider tip. We stayed here for a long weekend and really enjoyed it. The staff are super friendly, the overall impression of the site is very well maintained, even if not everything is top modern, which is not important for us. We were a little surprised about the chemical toilet... emptying inside the sanitary building at the reception (we hadn't seen this before, but it didn't bother us too much). The site is great for families with dogs, as there are no restrictions on where dog owners can and can't go and yet we didn't see any dog mess! The only disadvantage is the separation of the site by the crossing of the Rurtalbahn (the train traffic didn't bother us much, rather the opposite. The "Bimmelbahn" gave the site a certain character) The area directly on the Rur is particularly beautiful. What we found a bit annoying was the fact that we had the feeling that they wanted to get rid of us quickly after our meal in the restaurant. We were with three families plus kids and after the first nightcap after the meal, all further "schnapps" were supposedly sold out.

But all in all, we have already booked for 2027 and would love to come back.

The Rurtalbahn (our beloved “little train”!)... is indeed a unique feature that gives the campground real character—we’re glad you see it that way, too!

We’ll gladly take your suggestion regarding the chemical toilet disposal and will add more signage so that it’s immediately clear to every guest in the future.

Regarding the restaurant: We’re sorry that you felt you weren’t being attended to properly. That doesn’t meet our standards, and we take your feedback very seriously!

Our... Hetzingen campsite thrives on precisely this mix, which many guests only discover little by little: the unique location directly on the Rur, embedded in the nature of the Eifel National Park, with a panorama that is constantly changing depending on the time of day. Whether you're enjoying your first coffee in the morning with a view of the greenery or relaxing at the end of the day - you'll quickly get that special vacation feeling here.

Here you will find a variety of places where you don't have the feeling of standing close together, but really have space for yourself. Our modern and well-maintained sanitary facilities are a real highlight for many guests - as is the quiet, relaxed atmosphere throughout the site.

But what is particularly important to us is the personal touch. With us, you are not just a booking, but a welcome guest. We take our time, are happy to help and give tips for excursions that you won't find in every travel guide - be it a canoe trip on the Rur, a hike through the Eifel or simply a particularly beautiful place to relax.

There is also a lot to discover around the campsite: small towns, regional gastronomy, nature experiences and activities for every season. And this is often the difference between "it was really good" and "I really want to go there again".

And about the journey: Yes, the small country lanes in the Eifel are sometimes a bit of a challenge - but the beautiful nature right on site makes up for it! Our campsite is located directly on the idyllic Rur, which makes it the perfect starting point for canoe tours, hikes and cycle tours through the Rur valley. Many guests also get on their mountain bikes here and explore the Eifel landscape. And if you want to recharge your batteries after your adventure: our café with bread roll service, the restaurant and the kiosk are there for you.
