Ventajas
Location by the lake and for hiking
Desventajas
Supply on site only for the essentials (not bad, you can adjust to it)
well located, simple place in the heart of the Harz Mountains
The CP is simple, but good. Some goods (e.g. chilled drinks) are sold at the reception. Bread rolls can also be ordered in advance. However, there is a small supermarket in Altenau. There is no restaurant on the campsite. The sanitary facilities were okay (not super-modern, but they don't have to be)... but always clean. The pitches are large enough and surfaced with gravel. This is good in the rainy Harz Mountains, but you should have screw pegs with you.
The road a little above was sometimes audible, especially when motorcyclists accelerated hard. Overall, however, the campsite is quietly located on the reservoir of the Okertalsperre. Swimming, SUP and hiking can take place/start directly at the CP.

the place is very idyllic, also very quiet although the main road runs directly along the site. the sanitary facilities are very well maintained and there is also a separate lounge. The Kroes family are super nice, which is why we booked again in August.
Desventajas
In my opinion there are no disadvantages, occasional noise came from very loud guests.
wonderful place, very nice operators
it was our first time as guests of the Kroes family and we were completely satisfied. they offer everything you need for camping. there is a playground for children and the whole site is clean. the sanitary facilities are well maintained and very clean. that's why we decided to come again.

Ventajas
Lots of quiet, beautiful, spacious sites and good sanitary facilities
Desventajas
Bad wifi, but honestly.... How important is that?
great and cozy campsite
Stayed here with the four of us. Super hospitable welcome and a place with the best view of our vacation. Good location to explore both the North and South of the Harz. Good clean sanitary facilities.
It is already quiet on the campsite from 10pm, which might be a bit early for young people 😉

Location
Desventajas
Communication of the employee at the reception (operator/tenant)
A place with potential
The site is beautifully situated in the Harz Mountains by a stream. The location directly on the long-distance hiking trail and on local cycling and hiking trails is also excellent.
Unfortunately, the tenant/owner did not want to accept my daughter and me, although we met all the current Corona requirements... of the state government, just not the personal requirements of the owner. We had previously stayed at other campsites without any problems. What a shame.

Ventajas
A place to relax as a starting point for many activities close to nature.
Desventajas
The pitch is probably getting on in years and no longer meets the current standard. Power supply is quite expensive. Water is used sparingly everywhere. The WLAN is a constant nuisance and can only be reached at a hotspot for 30 minutes.
Camping close to nature
The pitch is not bad as it is, but it still needs some structural improvements to bring it up to standard. Water supply and electricity are available on site, but only for a fee, which is also extremely high for electricity. 0.70 euros per KW. Waste water leaves a lot to be desired and often does not... work at all. Places on the water to look out over the lake are in short supply. Background noise, especially at weekends from the main road. Only one chemical toilet disposal available as a completely outdated system. The sanitary facilities could be better, especially when showering hardly any water comes out of the shower. Kitchen available, even there already seen better. Lounge supposedly closed due to Corona. You can believe that, but you don't have to. For the few days it was fine with us.

The Oker river is close by and there are plenty of activities nearby.
Camping with a family tent
We moved to this campsite and are very satisfied. Very nice owners and the sanitary facilities are clean and tidy. They are right on the Okee, we can only recommend them. Price performance also okey. We will be back ;-)

Ventajas
- In the middle of the Harz Mountains
Desventajas
- Friendliness of the staff - W-Lan - Located on a noisy street - Many (presumably) positive fake reviews
Loud / No wifi / Indifferent / Few toilets / Positive fake reviews
The positive reviews remind me of a ZDF report on fake reviews. When we first contacted the campsite staff, we had the feeling that we were disturbing them. The campsite has 4 out of 5 stars in the "peace and quiet" category. Why? It's right next to a busy main road. A good alternative for the hard of hearing, but not for everyone else. There is virtually no Wi-Fi, the toilets are undersized and dirty.

Ventajas
The location and nature
Desventajas
The owner has no interest in customer service, decides arbitrarily who is allowed to stay and who is not and sets strict rules that have nothing to do with vacation. He can also become verbally aggressive very quickly. Children and groups are not welcome.
Aggressive and unfriendly owner
We were there last year, three families with small children. We were treated very badly because we were a group and groups are generally not allowed. The owner approached us aggressively several times and in the end we had the feeling that we were not wanted. You can quickly experience aggression and... dominance there, even in several languages. You can only talk about vacation and relaxation if you go as a couple (or alone), stay for a long time, don't talk to each other and just want to read books. Not for young people, families or groups. The owner has a great need for control. Very unfriendly, not recommended.

Nicely located campsite with an impertinent and unfriendly boss
We spontaneously looked for a campsite. The boss (a Dutchman) was so cheeky and impertinent that we would have preferred to turn back immediately. Location grade 1, friendliness grade 5.

Ventajas
well-kept, clean, nice, close to the water and for hiking
Desventajas
Proximity to the street, number of toilets.
Very beautiful and relaxing when the motorcycles are not on the road
All in all, there's not much to complain about. Everything is well maintained and sufficiently intact. The operators are very nice and helpful. The number of toilets can lead to short waiting times when the site is full, as it was for us at Whitsun. The proximity to the dam is great and the shallow inlet... right next to the site attracts children to play. For a short vacation we (2 adults, 2 children 43-11) would take the short journey for us again. Nevertheless, I would like to leave a warning: we will not come back during the motorcycle season. The proximity to the road is not bad in itself. But I couldn't get used to the revving engines in 3 days. However, as the operators are not responsible for recreational racers who absolutely have to pull hard on the throttle, I didn't put a star on it either.

Again and again
We come there 1-2 times a year. We feel very comfortable there. The operators are very nice and courteous. The sanitary facilities are clean at all times. The location is beautiful. It's like a second home. We were there again this year in April and are going back in a week. We are looking forward to it!!!

Ventajas
- small recreation room - new showers - very nice location - good location for excursions in the Harz Mountains
Desventajas
- Street noise very disturbing during the day - Wifi only in front of the building - Restaurant closed - Rough sports and play equipment
No relaxation thanks to street noise, but very nice location.
We stayed at the campsite for 3 nights at the end of August 2018. We chose it based on the reviews here, which in hindsight I can't quite understand. On arrival, we were worried whether the site was even open. However, there were a few campers in the rear area and in the unlit reception area there was... a somewhat demotivated gentleman who "took us in". We quickly found a pitch that was big enough. The first disadvantage was that the ground was covered with grass, but there was also a lot of gravel, which was ideal for ground stability, but bent almost every tent nail. I have already mentioned road noise in the title. First of all, I am a motorcyclist myself. I am aware that flatlanders on motorcycles enjoy driving through the Harz Mountains. Apparently, however, it is also fashionable to do this with illegal exhaust systems. Approximately 3 out of 4 of them roared past the square at 15-second intervals during the day (even on weekdays). I don't feel any relaxation here. Another negative point is the sanitary facilities. These have been modernized, but the urinals are without water flushing, so that a considerable odor cloud went away from here. This should not be the case. The "sports and playground facilities" are unfortunately very outdated. You won't find a seal of approval on the equipment. However, the location was nice. Another "gimmick": you get a nightly visit from a fox. So you shouldn't leave any shoes outside. You can look for them the next morning. But it's a very exciting diversion for children, because the animal apparently visits the site regularly after sunset and cheekily walks into the awnings.

All good!
I was there for a few days with my boys and the tent. We liked the place very much, we didn't miss anything. Very nice operators. The sanitary facilities (men's) were without any problems, some shelves, especially in the showers, would be desirable. Campers should definitely use pegs for stone/rock floors. Highly recommended.

Sanitary facilities were very clean. Great location on the water. Great playground with castle for children
Desventajas
Motorcycle noise at the weekend
Nice little place...
The place itself is very good. The operators are very nice and we had a nice, uncomplicated weekend there. The location is very good, we had a pitch by the water, but it could have been a bit bigger. Electricity requires a large cable reel, at least at the water pitches. I just about managed with a 20m... cable. Sanitary facilities are not the most modern, but spotlessly clean! The only thing that bothered us, but it's not the site's fault, is the motorcycle noise at the weekend. That's a real resin problem ... We thought it was good that noisy youth groups were not wanted and not allowed. As far as water sports are concerned, we had our canoe with us, but you don't have the greatest range on the dam. After an hour we had seen everything. All in all, a place to feel at home, where we will gladly come back during the week.
