Nice staff, close to the beach, new sanitary facilities on the Womo pitch outside the campsite
Desventajas
No trash cans on the site, very outdated and unclean wash houses with coin slot for the showers, gray water disposal can only be reached at the top of the wash house via many steps, lots of dog poop due to lack of disposal options
Not again
If you have dogs with you, it is unavoidable that the animals get loose on the campsite in the morning, as the walk to the dog beach is simply too far. This means that there is urine and dog poo everywhere, some of which is only removed in a makeshift manner. Of course, many guests walk barefoot across... the square because of all the sand. You can imagine what you then carry into your tent or caravan. Unfortunately, there is only one waste disposal station near the restaurant. There are no other garbage cans.
The wash house is at the top of a fairly high dune and we saw very few people carrying their gray water up there.
The showers are very dated and not particularly clean.
No shopping facilities on the site...
The pitches are completely in the sand, which seems very romantic at first glance. At least there are no puddles when it rains heavily. But it would have been good if the pitches had been "tidied up" after the guests. We had broken glass, concrete residue and thorns on the pitch. Quite dangerous for children.
The site would certainly have potential with some serious renovation work.

Ventajas
The location and proximity to the North Sea
Desventajas
Dilapidated sanitary facilities/it stinks/at the beginning of the season there are things in the way everywhere (tents in the wash house, gas bottles in the corridor, etc). Defective stairs to the sanitary facilities. Garbage everywhere (old wood e.g. on the site). No kiosk, no bread rolls, newspaper...
Cheekiness/it stinks/disrepair
A place where no investment has been made for years and unfortunately now has defects everywhere. The sanitary facilities unfortunately stink and have a number of defects. Silicone joints are heavily infested with mold and the fittings are all loose. In addition, just in time for the start of the season,... a staircase to the facilities is dismantled because it is dilapidated. And you discover this just in time for the start of the season?
It's incomprehensible that there are old things lying around everywhere in the corridors and wash houses, chewing gum. Old tent poles, awnings, fridges etc.
The TV room is simply filthy.
There are old things lying around everywhere on the site which are picked up by tractors during the vacation. To experience this during your vacation is simply an imposition.
The fact that there is no possibility here to get the little things in life (bread rolls, newspaper, ice cream,...) ok, but you could go out for a good and expensive meal if there was a place in the restaurant at the campsite.
Too bad.

The place has a very nice location
Desventajas
The operator does not show the slightest goodwill in the event of withdrawal
Reservations are not recommended
The site has a very good location, which is why we wanted to book there again after a camping vacation several years ago. We had to cancel a week in advance due to illness. The operator showed little compassion and instead charged us a cancellation fee of €53 for a 2-man tent pitch that we had canceled a week (!) in advance. With such greed for money, there can be no question of hospitality.

Location, size, wash house, vacationers

Vacation too short as always 😂
Great WoMo parking space
The location is great, right behind the dunes and 5 minutes by bike to the town center. Tip top wash house! It's a pitch with electricity, not a campsite (which is only for WoWA). Very simple, we like that. Small and cozy. Arrival/departure was very well organized. The groundsman is also on site every day. We will be back again.

unfriendly groundsman
Never again
We have never received such an unfriendly welcome as at the pitch in Hörnum. Despite our reservation, the groundsman claimed that the pitch was actually closed and asked us what we actually wanted. Caught off guard by such a charming reception, we briefly considered leaving again. After a second thought,... we decided not to do him this favor. So we stayed... Other motorhome guests who arrived at the pitch were treated just as unfriendly. The permanent campers arriving, however, were greeted in a friendly manner (we had probably known each other for a long time). As the adjacent campsite was still closed, the caravans and cars of the permanent campers were accommodated on the motorhome pitch. The sanitary facilities were not cleaned during our entire stay.

Ventajas
Very scenic, right on the beach, quite cheap
Desventajas
Poor cell phone and W-LAN reception, stairs to the sanitary building
If you like sand, this is the place for you!
First the positive: the location is great for beach fans, just over a dune and you're on the beautiful west beach. If there's too much wind, you can cycle to Hörnum to the east beach in 10 minutes. The price-performance ratio is ok, by Sylt standards the place is very cheap and Hörnum is not as fancy... as other places on Sylt. The staff are super nice. The restaurant and kiosk are only just being rebuilt after being closed for over a year. What bothered me personally was the fact that you have to walk up quite a few steps to get to the sanitary facilities, especially to dispose of the chemical toilet and waste water, as the sanitary building is located above the pitch. The sanitary facilities are rather basic. What's not so great is that the coin-operated machines for the showers (50 ct/3 minutes) are located in front of the shower cubicles and there is no display inside the cubicle to show how long the hot water is still running. Unfortunately there is no playground, so the children have nowhere to go. The caravan is pulled in and out with a tractor, you can drive to the pitch by car to load and unload. Fresh water taps are dotted around the site. Although I have been camping in the sand on Amrum since I was a child, the sand on the pitch really got on my nerves, but this was also due to the fact that we had a lot of wind at times, so that the sand was blown through every crack. Luckily, we had dry and beautiful weather overall, as it's really annoying to walk through the sand from the tarred path when it's raining. There's no question that the campsite is really scenic. But next time I'd rather go to Rantum.

Permanent campers on a motorhome site ?
Time to relax
Highly recommended for people who want to experience the beauty of the island in its original form, without the hustle and bustle of Westerland and Kampen. Super sanitary facilities, the picture is only marred by some unkempt permanent camper areas (old coaches etc.).

My first camping trip in 25 years
A nice little place, next to the main square with well-kept surroundings. Very friendly staff who look after their guests with dedication and patience. The highlight was a spectacular Easter bonfire. We will certainly return to this campsite

This is a place for the rustic camper, who is looking for peace and nature, and does not attach great importance to great sanitary facilities and infrastructure.everything is available on the site on a small scale.and you are only separated by a dune, immediately on the water.

Beautifully situated site in a dune valley. Closer to the water is hardly possible! Who comes here, must be clear about the fact that this is a pure sand place (sand everywhere, in the awning, in the caravan, in the sanitary facilities) The food of the restaurant, (meermann) is highly recommended! (For... the evening, I advise advance booking) Conclusion: Who is not too picky, and does not need the flair of Westerland, but loves the nature of the island, is exactly right here!

A lovely campsite in a beautiful location, tucked in the sand dunes, close to the beach but well protected from the wind. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price was excellent for an expensive island. The only issue was not being able to have our car next to the tent. Otherwise I would recommend this site.

The campsite is a dream if you like pure nature and peace and quiet. For us it was one of our best vacations even though the weather was pretty bad. The food at meermann is absolutely great and the DVD evenings are great fun! We booked again straight away and are really looking forward to it.
