"Pleasant all around ... - We, a family of 5, booked a 7 night stay at this campground. We booked 2 x 100sq/m plots for our Tents. On the first 2 -3 days we were there it was pretty rainy weather and our tents were getting flooded due to poor drainage of the plots. As the sun came out and things dried up things got a lot better. We enjoyed the great swimming pool a lot with the kids, played birdie, and come dinner we found the restaurant served large portions of pommes frites for 5CHF! The grounds are kept extremely clean and all the cooking, cleaning and wellness facilities are spotless! The playground is great for the little kids and very safe. Now a couple things that were not so pleasant ... 1. The (already mentioned) drainage on the plots where people pitch tents. Something really should be done here. We know that it rained a lot in those 2 - 3 days, but some ground leveling and simple guttering would really make a huge difference! 2. They disable the camping gate in the middle of the day for about 2 hours. This is to keep the noise level down during that time - but really I didn't think it was needed since a couple cars driving at 5km/h during that time would not cause so much as a stir. It interrupted our plans on more than one occasion. 3. On a couple occasions we had less-than-friendly interactions with the "locals". Once we were caught off by the closing of the gate in the middle of the day, and as we were taking the car back to our plot a middle-aged man on his bicycle felt it his duty to start scolding us loudly for even having dared to use our car during this time of day - Even though there is no rule against that! The other instance occurred on the day we were leaving and I had packed the car and waited till after 8:00am to start the car (as that is when the "night/quiet time" officially ends), when a man who I think was the owner/manager of the place, walked by and told me in Fench to turn the engine off - and when he found that I only speak German he acted like something was wrong with me. A fellow customer on the campgrounds came to help translate and I told him "but it's past 8:00 and we are about to drive out", but this was not enough for the owner/manager, he seemed to think that everyone around us was still sleeping (none of them were!!) - So that was rather unpleasant! 4. The Jacuzzi! It's a nice idea, and it's affordable for sure - but the thing that totally ruined it for us was that the water was so full of Chlorine that we were basically breathing it stright into our lungs! We had to get out halfway through the time we had booked it - we were getting headaches and feeling sick! The water was not fresh either, so there is no way to tell how many people had been in it before us. 5. On the final day we were there we planned a meal which had pommefrites at the heart of it - however when we went to the restaurant to order them we were told that tonight the kitchen was completely closed on account of a Risotto night event taking place. We had known about the Risotto event, but were never informed that all other culinary options were closed off that evening. - Of a 4 star place I would not have expected this. We had to walk to the "nearby" Horse Jumping event to find our food for dinner - and paid double the price! 6. Pool closing time! Pool closes at 19:30 .. which sounded good at first, but then in summer when you still have light in the sky till 21:30 or even later, a dip in the pool after a baking hot day is very appreciated. We felt that closing the pool at 19:30 was just too early in Summer - and it seemed to be more suited to the employee who cares for the pool than for the customers. On a couple of occasions we were caught off by this, and also witnessed other customers experiencing this same thing. Other than these things the place is excellent. If you can get around some of the time limits and other things it's a fantastic spot, well priced, clean, has great facilities and overall friendly staffing (Just don't disobey the rules!!!). The lady who took our booking and runs the place is exceptionally friendly and helpful!
