This site is clearly the better alternative. You always need a bit of luck to book, at least for the few comfort pitches on the beach side. Just a few steps away from one of the most beautiful and quiet beaches on the island....
The beach side has two modern wash houses, which are kept absolutely clean at all times. But it's not that difficult because the public can behave themselves. Unfortunately, the quality deteriorates with every year. The maintenance of the paths and pitches is very neglected or does not take place. Sinks on the pitches are not repaired and increase every year. Hedges that offered a little... privacy have been cut down. In their place, soil has simply been put down, which wobbles through the awning as mud when it rains.
On the other hand, the campsite scores points with its staff. Everyone is very friendly and motivated.
Incidentally, you can shower for longer than 3 minutes, you just have to turn off the water in between.
We hope that the new operators will gradually modernize the site and make the pitches and paths more attractive. Sanitary facilities (we were at the end of the site on the Baltic side) were well maintained all round, were cleaned several times a day and there is nothing to complain about. We felt absolutely at home from 15.6.24 to 22.6.24. Checking in and out went very quickly and smoothly, all the staff were incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, we had not reckoned with the large number of group campers. Many party tents were set up. In some cases, up to two dozen people partied until well after midnight at a correspondingly loud volume. After... two nights of partying, we left early.
The sanitary facilities are getting on in years. Showers for 1.50 are far too expensive and not up to date considering the high price of the pitch. Sinks are far too close together. Hardly any space to put the washing-up bowl down. The location directly on the beach is good. Bread roll service from 8 to 10 am, manageable shopping facilities. Too few sanitary facilities for the size of the site. Although the staff were always friendly and the sanitary facilities were clean, they were no longer up to date. We didn't have wifi at all on the pitch, the road was disturbingly loud right next to the pitch, it really is a busy main road.... It was annoying at all times. There is no entertainment for children, and unfortunately hardly any green areas on the site. The shower token system is really outdated and annoying every time you use it. Good location to explore the Mönchgut.ΑρνητικάSmall pitches, long distances to the service building depending on the pitch.What for beach loversOverall, the resort appears unkempt and designed for mass tourism. There is no possibility to dispose of gray water at the fresh water taps. Due to the long distances for disposal, we observed that the hedges were often used for this purpose.
This site is only suitable to a limited extent for people... looking for peace and quiet. The site is beautiful with large pitches right on the beach. The road that divides the place in two halves can be quite disturbing. There was always a foul smell in the air in the showers and the cleanliness was so-so. To charge €1.50 for... this (for 3.5 minutes shower time) is really cheeky. In addition, a foot shower to rinse off the sand would be appropriate, then the sanitary blocks would also look better...
You can buy breakfast rolls on site, several restaurants and a small store are within walking distance, but for larger purchases you have to drive a few kilometers.

Fantastic complex with restaurantOn arrival you can drive to the large square in front of the reception. Super nice team. You can eat directly in our own restaurant "dat Strandhus", which is located directly on the dunes on the beach. With a sea view. There are beach chairs and a very nice children's playground. The complex is situated... exactly parallel to the long, bright white sandy beach and is spacious. No disturbing forest in between. The sea with its own beach on one side and the biosphere reserve on the other. What could be better? A little south of the beach is also a nudist beach. Approx. 5 km long beach walks and clean, clear water. We didn't mind the traffic-calmed road, in fact we thought it was great because the cycle path runs right along it. We will definitely be back soon. Also great with children and for longer stays. Ideal location for excursions around the island and just a few minutes from the Roland nostalgia train station. All the staff, whether at reception or the service staff, were always friendly and nice. During peak times, there is also a security service that checks that everything is in order and that the night's rest is observed. I can't say anything about the washing machines and dryers which are in an extra room. I looked in there once and it seemed just as clean as everywhere else. There are older and new sanitary facilities.ΑρνητικάIn the older sanitary areas, some of the shower brackets were defective and some of the silicone maintenance joints were black in places. I assume that these are always repaired before the start of the season, as they were still in perfect condition on our first visit in July.Dat Stranddörp on RügenThe campsite is divided into two sections. There is the beach side and the Bodden side due to the road in between. Both the beach side and the Bodden side are secured to the road with a fence, which is secured with several lockable gates to change roads. These can be opened with the issued keys. This... means that small children cannot dismantle them. There is a great adventure playground on the beach side. Opposite is the restaurant dat Strandhus. Occasionally there were also musical performances there.
Despite Corona, I always felt safe and comfortable there. The campsite is super nice and clean (if everyone would take care of themselves and hit the trash can)
We had our pitch right next to a beach access and could smell the sea 🌊. Even though the pitch is on a main road,... we were still able to find peace and quiet and didn't hear it at night.
The sanitary facilities were open and also clean. The staff were super friendly.
Unfortunately, the mini market was still closed due to the Corona period, but Göhren is within easy walking distance.
Disadvantage is the power connection..you should have an extra long cable and the WLAN what is missing, but that is complaining at the highest level.

Were 1st time on Bodden side. Will always choose the beach side again in the future. Of course the road is annoying, but everyone knows that when booking.
