Large complex with lake
Two campsites next to a recreational area with a quarry pond. Free choice of pitches and spacious pitches. Not recommended at weekends, as one of the two pitches (to which all passing tourists are apparently also assigned) is a meeting place for partying (noise!). Sanitary facilities not up to date,... but quite clean. WLAN only at reception. Restaurant available. Very friendly staff. The price on Camping-info is not correct: 11,- € are indicated there, but the overnight stay actually cost 23,- €.

Camping at a bathing lake
We were traveling from Paris via Strasbourg to Basel when I entered a place to look for in the navigation system in Verdun. The campsite Camping Marguerites Base de Loisire du Colvert caught our eye. We chose this site because you can swim in a lake there. There are actually two campsites, a 2-star and... a 3-star on the approx. 30 ha. Large terrain. The reception and the groundsman were very friendly. After we passed the barrier, the groundsman told us that we could turn left into the first pitch after about 400 meters at the restaurant by the lake and look for a pitch. The electricity posts are equipped with CEE plugs and are sufficiently fused with 10 amps, and there is a water tap right next to them. The sanitary facilities are a little older but spacious and clean. Hot water for showers and washing up is included in the price. The plots are rather large (approx. 100-150 square meters) and are divided by loose bushes and trees, so there is enough shade on all plots if the sun is too strong. Swimming in the lake is suitable for young and old, there is also a medium-sized slide which can be particularly interesting for children. There are also pedal boats for hire, and in the evening you can enjoy dinner in the restaurant with a beautiful sunset. The campsite has its own website with lots of photos where you can get more information about rates and leisure activities in French only. There is an educational farm nearby where you can go horseback riding. The site is also suitable for excursions to Verdun. The town became sadly famous because of the First World War. There are plenty of soldiers' memorials there. According to its own website, there are countless things you can do in the area. We really liked it there and will definitely return to this place.
