after discovering in chateau-salins that the campsite there had been closed for some time, we had to cycle another 5 kilometers over the mountains to find the site in the dark. if you come through vic-sur-seille, the site is relatively difficult to find. we don't know whether the small patch of grass... where we had pitched our tent is the actual tent site, but we couldn't find anything else the next day either. the sanitary facilities are relatively primitive (by our standards) and also dirty. the whole site consists almost exclusively of vacation cottages (mobile homes) - all with front gardens and corresponding garden frills. the site includes a small lake, which we unfortunately didn't swim in due to the bad weather. this site is rather unsuitable for cyclists\ with tents - but campsites are rare in this area and we had to take what was available. the place is very unique, it even has at least 3 bakeries, a market and a few bars. the winding alleys with the old typical houses give vic-sur-seille a pleasant, typical atmosphere.
