Great campground right on the lake
The campground is in a prime location right on the lake and only about 2.5 kilometers from downtown Plön.
We stayed in the RV parking area: a very nice restroom building with family showers—everything was always very clean. The sauna was great, too, with a view of the lake.
Since we were there at the... end of August, I can’t comment on the entertainment program. However, there are great activities for kids of all ages in two indoor facilities. It’s also great that there’s a movie theater on-site (though we didn’t use it).
All in all: we have nothing to complain about.

Site No. 145 is right on the water, with a great view. The restrooms are nice and clean, and everything is close by, including the restaurant. We ordered the “Pizza Spezial” for takeout, and it tasted really great—top-notch quality. If we ever come back to the Plön area, Spitzenort will be our first choice.

A Short Getaway at Lake Plön: Camping in Spitzenort
We arrived on Monday, August 31,
We were greeted very warmly; a staff member guided us to our campsite by the lake. Everything went smoothly—within an hour, we had set up our camper with the awning, table, and chairs, hooked up the power, and were enjoying the great view with a nice cup of coffee.

Overall, it's good, but not premium
The very irregular, natural plots stand out in a positive way from the usual neatly aligned ones. However, some of the paths are very narrow, and the hedges have been allowed to grow wild—unfortunately, including the very thorny blackberry bushes. Some of the paved paths were so uneven that it was easy... to trip, especially in the dark. The campground was very clean, but the small store didn’t meet our expectations; the selection of bread rolls, however, was very good.

A great place to go on a camping vacation. The location and facilities are excellent, though it would be nice if they improved the water supply and waste disposal at some of the campsites. Overall, it’s a place you’ll want to come back to.

Great location, city, campground
A very nice campground; we stayed in the RV area, which I highly recommend. The restrooms are right on the site—very modern and clean—and just a few steps away from the water. It’s a two-kilometer bike ride to Plön. Shopping is also within two kilometers—Lidl, Rewe.

As the name of the town suggests: a "top-notch" place.
A fantastic tour with a veeeery friendly team. Great location right on the lake. Plön (shopping and other amenities) is just a few minutes away.
Great campsites. Short walk to the restrooms. On-site restaurant
(also for takeout). Direct access to the lake.
Well-stocked kiosk, including fresh breakfast rolls every day...

Super clean restroom facilities! The spot for solo hikers with tents is unfortunately very noisy from the street. The kitchen, which we used, is also really well-equipped. They’ve also thought of everything when it comes to the e-bike charging station. I didn’t use the pool, since I prefer swimming in the lake. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to others!!!

Surrounded by water, with plenty of opportunities to go for a swim… and if you stand at the front, you can enjoy the view, too! Lots of little islands all around—almost like in Croatia 😂 Beautiful winding paths—you’re right in the middle of the greenery! Beautiful scenery all around… Friendly staff… great recreational options… a pool, which is also a rarity… A restaurant right on the grounds, offering takeout as well…

It’s quite a long way to the water station in some places, the restroom facilities are too small—there are only 4 toilets and 2 urinals—and there’s always a line! The toilet paper was constantly out, and I thought the shower system was terrible! …You have to press the button every 10 seconds, and sometimes barely any warm water comes out with low pressure! Unfortunately, the lake is very weedy, and the lack of a nice beach doesn’t really make it inviting for swimming… If you’re parked closer to the front, I could imagine the road being annoying too—there’s quite a bit of traffic there.
A beautiful, idyllic spot right on the water
Despite everything, we had a lovely, relaxing time—even though the weather wasn’t great, the location and view were perfect… You really couldn’t ask for a better spot…!!!
I’d love to see the restroom facilities improved a bit and maybe a nice stretch of beach cleared of rocks and weeds! (I’ve seen better at other spots around the lake.)

A great, well-equipped campground right on the lake
Great spot with excellent restroom facilities (brick-built restrooms) right on the lake, with plenty of (small access points).
Many campsites right on the lake. Good restaurant and a small kiosk. Additional shopping options nearby. Everything is easily accessible by bike via bike paths.
Unfortunately,... the “swimming beaches” are very small. The lake is very shallow and heavily overgrown, so swimming isn’t much fun. So head out on a boat instead. When it’s windy, rowing back becomes quite a workout. Motorboats aren’t allowed.

Prime location with a very good restaurant
The location right on Lake Plön, in the middle of park-like grounds and not far from the town of the same name, is fantastic. The campsites are truly spacious, each with its own water and electricity hookups. As for the restrooms, they are modern, clean, and exceptionally well-maintained. The restaurant... isn’t very large inside, but
with the covered outdoor terrace, it’s still spacious enough. Nevertheless, it’s necessary to make a reservation in advance. Our meal (rice curry with vegetables, pollock fillet with fried potatoes) was very good. The prices were reasonable, too.
All in all, a top-notch campground.

A nice place with some limitations
We were back at this very beautiful campground for the third time in several years, but this time we were extremely annoyed by the heavy car traffic. Our site at Rohrdommelbucht was located right on the main access road, which—due to the campground’s long, narrow peninsula layout—is true for most of... the sites. From the moment the gate opened at 7:00 a.m., there was constant traffic moving at a snail’s pace along the gravel path—whether to pick up bread rolls or because the walk to the private bathrooms was too far. We often found ourselves wondering as early as 8:00 a.m. where all these cars were still coming from—the campground should have been empty by then… It was truly a major nuisance, especially at a “nature” campground. The private restrooms—which were new to us—were extremely far from our site, at the very front of the campground, behind the reception desk. A “quick trip” to the restroom isn’t feasible at that distance. Okay, we could have looked it up on the campground map beforehand, but we’ve never experienced anything like this anywhere else. The restaurant—if you can even get a seat there—was okay in terms of quality, but completely overwhelmed organizationally; new rules were in effect every day, and they were interpreted completely differently depending on the server—they could improve things quite a bit with a little more communication among themselves. Something else that stood out to us and several of our neighbors: The water supply—that is, connections to the individual sites—is pretty poor. At a 5-star campground, a connection on every site should really be standard.
But otherwise, it’s still a beautiful, very well-maintained campground in a great location.

Beautiful campsite for nature lovers
The Spitzenort course is very close to nature. The location on the peninsula allows for many pitches with a view of the lake. Most of the pitches are pleasantly large and often under trees. There is plenty on offer for children and teenagers, yet it is quiet and relaxing, as the football pitch, for example,... is on the edge of the campsite, so there is no noise pollution. The offer in the restaurant and the small store is good, the staff very friendly. Everything is very tidy and clean. There are plenty of sanitary facilities and exceptionally well-equipped cooking facilities and sinks.
