An Amazing place
Fab site relaxing and nice facilities.. Take a cool off in the river or walk in the woods to while away your day.. Big pitch (we had XXL) with water and drainage there.. We had a lot vly time going cycling along the vast cycle paths straight from the site. If you like being outside and relaxing you will love it..

The same breakfast every morning, even though there were other options available. Over the last 3–4 days, I've noticed that all the items on offer were already past their best-by date.

You can't reserve parking spots. Extremely unfriendly welcome upon arrival
Check-in was a disaster, but everything else was great!
Last December, we had booked two adjacent campsites, but unfortunately the sites we wanted (right next to the playground) weren’t reserved, so we were assigned a completely different spot.
The staff in the restaurant and the shop were also very unfriendly, and everything could only be paid for in cash.
The vacation itself was excellent.

Nice location, wonderful river, discutable plot, poor sanitary and grumpy staff
The location of the campsite. Good access to everythinh around the area and beyond.
The river is cool, for kids and adults alike. Nice spot to cool down in a rubber tire-thing and float along the current.
The card for the activities in the area is a nice add-on.

However:

We paid for an XL plot on... the tent field. But this is not consistent; be a bit anti-social to avoid other tent-ropes and cars crossing yours. You might be lucky, but when you arrive late, you might get stuck with a small gravel pitch where you can pick the food from your neighbours' table.

The sanitary is bad: fungi in all the showers, regularly cold water and the showers have a timer that runs only 5 to 10secs before you have to push the knob again. Being careful wirh water usage is good, but this sucks.

The staff is grumpy (no friendly welcome, just the bare minimum like: Ausweis, Kennzeichen, pay now) and very inflexible, even when you do your best to talk to them in their own language. No explanation about the campground, no explanation about the card (I only knew how it worked when I received the email with QRcode).

Overall: way too pricey for the plot size, quality of service and facilities
Combined with the grumpiness, this does not counteract the wonderful location the campground is in.

Moderate value for money
For the price of the tent pitch i expected a lot more. But just simple things like the reception having some extra spare things for sale or rent like air mattress or basic camping requirements. Its a camping for 1000s of people but you have nothing extra to help people who might need something? And the... unwillingness to help by the staff was simply rude.
Also, no shade on the tent pitches! The whole field was wide open. If you ever slept in a tent you would know how valuable a little bit of shade can be.
While we were checking in we were given some pamphlets in German. We dont speak german. The lady looked at us like "too bad"! So strange...
4 showers for all the tent pitches..we were standing in line every night to take a shower! Ridiculous

A good campground in a great location with panoramic mountain views
We spent our three-week vacation at the Grubhof in July and August. Overall, we really enjoyed it. The campground has over 200 sites in various categories. Most are quite large, at about 150–180 square meters. However, they’re usually about 10 meters wide but very deep. The campground specifies how you’re... supposed to set up your vehicle. The sites have fresh water and wastewater connections on-site and are equipped with 16-amp power.Adjacent to the campground is a large tent field. We also appreciated that there are dog-free areas. The campground is beautifully situated right on the Saalach River (there are also riverfront sites) with a stunning mountain panorama. There are three large restroom buildings.For us, the XXL family bathrooms are a definite plus. They’re really very spacious, and you have everything—toilet, sink, and shower—all in one room. The campground also features a wellness area with a sauna, a fitness center, a restaurant, a small “shop,” and various facilities for kids and teens.We didn’t see any children’s entertainment. The Grubhof staff are very friendly and helpful. Campground guests are almost exclusively from the Netherlands and Germany. There are many great places to visit in the area. Events and festivals take place regularly in the towns of Lofer and St. Martin.With the free Saalach Card, you get (multiple) free admissions to numerous facilities and attractions in the area. Minor criticisms: More attention should be paid to the speed of vehicles (cars, bicycles, e-scooters) on the campground.In some cases, people were driving very fast! Guests are reminded of campers’ privacy through several signs. However: To get to the Saalach River, people sometimes walk crisscrossing through the riverside campsites—even though there’s an official access point to the river after every second campsite.Furthermore, we sometimes felt as though our riverside site was right on a through road within the campground. Especially early in the morning, it feels like cars are driving right past the window of our camper. Still: We’ll be back!

The site is very large at 180 square meters, but only part of it is usable. The trailer and awning must be set up in a specific area facing a designated direction.
Great location
A beautifully situated and clean campground. The location right on the river is lovely and works well even with children during the summer months. Our site was 180 square meters, but we had to set up the trailer according to the campground’s guidelines. As a result, you effectively only use about half... of the total area. There’s a small kiosk for last-minute shopping. Fresh bread rolls and other items are available daily. No need to pre-order. There’s a nice playground and a wellness area, though we didn’t use it. Overall, we were very satisfied.

A beautiful location right on the Saalach River, large campsites, plenty of space for children, and numerous recreational activities. The Saalachtal Card was especially great, offering many free or included attractions such as mountain railroads, an outdoor pool, and gorges. Very friendly and helpful staff, good restroom facilities, and everything you need for daily life nearby.

Our campsite was right in the entrance area and thus on the main road. In the mornings, it could get a bit noisy due to garbage collection and guests arriving and departing. For us, however, that wasn't a reason to rate the campground any lower overall.
Great family campground in a stunning location on the Saalach River
We spent about two weeks here with the family and really enjoyed our stay overall. We especially loved the great location right on the Saalach River. For the kids, the river was of course a highlight—with our inner tubes, they could float along for a bit whenever the water level was high enough.

There... were also an incredible number of things to do away from the campground. During our stay, we were able to use the Saalachtal Card every day, which allowed us, among other things, to ride the mountain railways for free, visit the Loferalm, go to the outdoor pool, or explore various gorges. This meant we could do a lot without constantly having to pay additional admission fees.

At the campground itself, there’s a playground, a soccer field, and plenty of green space between the campsites, so there was plenty of room for the kids there as well. The campsites themselves were large enough for us. We didn’t use the sauna because of the high temperatures during our stay.

The restroom facilities, including showers, toilets, and sinks, were good. At certain times, we occasionally had to wait a short while, but that was perfectly fine with us. Washing machines and dryers are also available.

We also found the small store on the campground convenient for picking up essentials. Larger shopping trips can be easily done in town at Spar or Billa; if you’re looking for better prices, in our experience it’s also worth making the trip to Hofer.

We’d especially like to mention the staff: Everyone was friendly, helpful, and responded very quickly to questions or minor concerns.

The only minor downside for us was the location of our campsite right by the entrance. There, you naturally notice the morning trash pickup and the traffic from people arriving and departing more. Aside from that, we had a really wonderful stay and would definitely recommend the campground.

Onze plek was nog bezet toen we aankwamen (16u) Er werd ons gevraagd 1 nacht ergens anders op de camping te staan. Dit hebben we niet gedaan.
Top week gehad
Genoten van een heerlijke week op Grubhof. Mooie plek met veel ruimte. Op de fiets naar de supermarkt of naar de lift. Het sanitair gebouw was heel schoon en groot! Jammer dat we niet gelijk op onze plek terecht konden. Maar, na voet bij stuk te hebben gehouden, konden we er toch gaan opzetten. Het was... een koelere week, dus geen gebruik gemaakt van het buitenzwembad waar we gratis naar toe mochten met de zomerkaart. Wel zijn we verschillende keren met de lift naar boven geweest. Daar gewandeld en naar het middelstation gewandeld. Heel mooi en goed te doen. De rivier ligt langs de camping waar de kinderen met banden zich konden laten meevoeren. Wij gaan zeker een keer terug!!

Geweldige camping, erg genoten met onze caravan op de ruime plek met waterpunt en prachtig uitzicht!! We hebben genoten van de schone en goed onderhouden en schone camping, heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant op de camping. Elke ochtend verse broodjes gehaald in de kampwinkel met vriendelijk personeel....
En dan heb ik het nog niet gehad over de zeer ruime en luxe familie badkamers echt fantastisch! Kortom een camping waar je echt een keer naar toe moet.

Some sites, like the one we were initially assigned—site 454—were so rocky and uneven that it was impossible to align the trailer. Besides, I don’t think it was actually 180 m². The alternate spot, 514, was great— spacious, level, and with a fantastic view.
Beautiful Campground
A truly beautiful campground in a great location. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back. However, it’s important to keep an eye on how prices change after the change in ownership.

We love this campground and have already booked our stay for next year. Unfortunately, there was a very unfriendly staff member at the front desk. She always seemed annoyed and took her bad mood out on her coworker right in front of us. Other than that, everything was great once again. Thank you very much.

We are disappointed.
This was our seventh visit to Camping Grubhof since 2019, and after this year’s stay, we won’t be coming back. The number of restroom facilities was nowhere near enough for the number of guests; they were often dirty, and there was a foul smell of sewage.
We’ve always enjoyed staying on the tent field,... but this time it was a disaster! We were squeezed in so tightly that we couldn’t even drive our van out, let alone walk around it. A €6 flat rate for electricity? At other campgrounds, you’re billed based on usage—we probably would have paid almost nothing there! The condition of the gym is simply poor. And the friendliness at the front desk leaves much to be desired. Out of three interactions, only one was friendly. It used to be much different before this chain took over. And the price of €88 per night for two adults on the tent field is just outrageous! Too bad—we won’t be coming back.

A Dream Vacation
After 14 days, we left this morning with a touch of sadness, and I have to say, it was a dream vacation. The campground’s location was beautiful—we’ve never stayed anywhere better. We were there as a couple, and the owner made sure we were in a child- and dog-free zone, which I found very pleasant since... I’m a preschool teacher by profession and enjoyed the peace and quiet on vacation. The campground offers many amenities: a sauna (absolutely lovely—I used it when it was raining, and it was a real bargain at €10; my husband would have been included but didn’t want to go), a fitness room for €2 per day, and a wellness area (which I didn’t use).
With the Saalbach Card, we were able to use the cable car in Lofer for free (you could have taken it up every day), as well as many nearby attractions (Seisenbach and Klusen Gorges, Lambrecht’s Cave…).
We brought our bikes and went on lots of great bike rides. We ate at the Grubhof restaurant twice—the food was really delicious, and the staff was very friendly. The small supermarket had fresh rolls every day, but be careful not to sleep in too long, or they’ll be sold out. Otherwise, the store is overpriced, but there are three supermarkets nearby for shopping. There are three laundry facilities equipped with state-of-the-art appliances; however, I think two washers and two dryers per facility aren’t enough, since there was always a long line there. We’ll definitely be coming back because we were thrilled.

Mooie vakantie, veel activiteiten in de buurt
We hebben een mooie vakantie gehad, voornamelijk doordat er veel in de buurt te doen is. Genoten van de rivier.
De grootte van de plaats (tentenveld) viel ons tegen, het voelt niet ruim, het bijbehorende sanitair is matig. Gelukkig even verderop een groot en mooie sanitair gebouw.

Very nice big pitches. Noted they advertise about 180 SQM but this includes the grass part. On the grass you are not allowed to set up your tent. Nevertheless the pitch is enough for big tent and 2 small ones with the car. The sanitair equipment is very nice with XXL family bath rooms.

Near the river can be a bit noisy due to swimming and playing kids. Not a problem when you aware of this. We stayed at the normal XXL pitches.
