Conventional chemical toilet disposal is available only in the entrance area (next to the trash disposal area and the graywater disposal area). Otherwise, only paid vending machines are available in the restroom area.

A campground in an incredibly great location with outstanding restroom facilities.

One drawback is the rather poor Wi-Fi coverage and the long walk to the chemical toilet disposal station if you don't want to use the Camperclean.

The seating was great as always, even though we didn't get the seats we'd reserved.

We come every year, but this was our last time. We called to ask if there was a dog-friendly spot available, and we were assured there was. When we arrived, they claimed everything was booked, and we had to go to the tent field. We had to pay in advance, which really surprised us, but we were assured that if we left early, we’d get a refund for the overpayment. Since we weren’t satisfied with the tent field, we wanted to leave the next day, but were only reimbursed for 2 of the 4 days we’d booked; the dog fee and visitor’s tax weren’t refunded at all. When I realized this, I went to the front desk and asked what was going on. I emphasized that we had been assured we’d get our money back and that I’d be happy to let my lawyer handle it—we discussed it for about half an hour in the back room. Then I received a smooth refund of the overpayment, including the dog fee and tourist tax. This is now the second time in a row that we’ve had problems. The first time, they claimed no deposit had been received—even though we showed them proof in writing—so we had to pay the full amount, and after multiple inquiries (in writing), we finally got our money back after six weeks. Now we’ve had enough of Camping Grubhof.

When you arrive on Sunday, you’re left looking pretty foolish 😤 Otherwise, everything was great

There was plenty of space on the campground, and the restrooms and showers are new and spacious enough. The restaurant is good, though more vegetarian options would be nice.

Reservations are always for 2 people, which means that even as a single person, you still pay for 2. The woman at the front desk wasn’t friendly. There are no trees on the campground, so there’s no shade, and the mowed grass was left on the ground, which meant it ended up all over the cars and tents. The drying room for wetsuits is great—the hanging rods are heated—but the humid air needs to be vented; otherwise, nothing will dry anyway.

The location is great for activities. Whether at the campground or in the surrounding area. Good bus service. Spacious sites.

- The campsite is quite expensive. We paid €68 per night for two people and one dog. - We had paid a 40% deposit in advance by credit card. At check-out, we were told that the deposit had not been paid. After we showed the receptionist our bank statements as proof of payment, the issue was resolved. However, we did not receive an apology and the receptionist was not very friendly or helpful.

The kitchen needs to be modernized. The refrigerator is too small for 9 people. The stove and cooktop should be updated (it takes a very long time to heat up pots and pans). Also, 8 forks for up to 10 people is a bit too few ;-)

I didn't like that some of the pools were rented out. There were sometimes long wait times.

Overall, a very nicely designed campground. There was usually plenty of space between us and our neighbors on the right and left. We liked the lakeside sites in the quiet zone on the far right best. The S1 restroom facility we used was very well designed and equipped. It was wonderful to be able to shower as often and for as long as we wanted in the lovely private bathrooms. Wi-Fi was free—great!

I didn't like that you can't reserve a parking spot. Not even a year in advance. The woman at the front desk whom I asked could obviously see in the system that a specific parking spot had been reserved for the same month next year. But she told me that I couldn’t reserve that one for myself. That seems illogical to me, but it’s a major drawback for me—for us—because we don’t want any surprises for this high price. There’s only one spot for manually emptying the toilet cassette near the front desk. It always stank, and there was always water on the floor that you had to wade through. The trash disposal area was disgusting. It was a closed room where the smell made me feel very nauseous. If the room were well-ventilated, it would be okay. Wi-Fi was free, but the connection speed was often very slow or even cut out.

The campsites along the Saalach were a dream. The restroom facilities, too, are state-of-the-art— not only modern but also very clean. Kudos.

The staff at check-out were in a very bad mood. The layout of the large campsites needs improvement, since there were always people—let’s say about 15 of them— in our spot, and also the kiosk was very small. As for the food, well, it was just too expensive. They had the nerve to complain to us about whether the spot belonged to us—excuse me, but we paid for it. We paid for the spot and wanted to use it. (How are we supposed not to make a fuss?) 😏

We spent a week at the Grubhof Campground. We really enjoyed it—it was very clean, the area was great, and the food was good.

I didn't have any TV reception. Unfortunately, you can't book the specific campsite—only the category.

The location—1A. Waschhaus 1—is beautifully designed. And the staff is so friendly!

Check the drainpipes regularly—some of them aren't draining properly. And there was a smell of sewage in some of the washrooms. The cleaning crew should use different cleaning rags whenever possible. A green one for sinks, a blue one for toilets, etc. Not just one for everything!! That’s disgusting. I’ve noticed this.

Unfortunately, when we made our reservation and were assigned a spot, they didn't take into account that we had booked with our dog. We were assigned a spot in the quiet area. Luckily, we were able to move to a spot in the dog-friendly area :)

We’ve been coming to this campground for 30 years now! We were warmly welcomed and well taken care of! As always, it was a pleasure for us to be here. The reception desk has new staff! They’re friendly and accommodating! Mareike and Eileen are a blast! We’ll be back!

Our tent neighbors (mostly Dutch) look at us critically because there are so many of us! And we have a big tent with us. But we’re peaceful— we’re happy when people stop by and sometimes even have a beer with us!

We had a 180 m² parking space that we couldn't use in its entirety because of the landscaping—that's the only issue.

Rustige camping, alles gemoedelijk, schoon sanitaire ruimtes, alles netjes verzorgd. Denken alleen na de overname dat de schoonmaak wat minder is. Receptie is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. We hadden een mooie plek aan de Beek. Na overname is het wel duurder geworden, dat is erg jammer

Beautiful surroundings, a nice place for our son to play with his peers, and the river was great. It was nice to be able to use the Saalachtalcard.

We were on the tent field and felt we paid far too much for what we got in return. There was no water point at the tent, we mainly looked out at all the cars parked by the tents, and the tents were very close together. The sanitary facilities on the other fields were super deluxe (even a bit over the top), but on the tent field they were substandard. There was too little cleaning and far too little capacity for the people who were there. Upon arrival, it turned out that we had to pay extra for electricity. All in all, a lot of money for a camping pitch that did not meet the conditions!

The camping site is very well located. From here you can go everywhere and there’s a lot of things to do with and without children. It’s nearby the Lofer alm which is very beautiful. The saalbacher card is a great opportunity to do a lot of cool stuff and visit the caves and the swimming pool in Lofer!

We didn’t have enough time to do all the thing we wanna do. That’s why we have to come back! ;)

Washhouse at the campground

Large pitches, great facilities, just a cycle ride to loafer with lots of local events. Take advantage of the free cable car and walk the mountain.. Lovely..

The same breakfast every morning, even though there were other options available. Over the last 3–4 days, I've noticed that all the items on offer were already past their best-by date.

The location is perfect—there's nothing to complain about.

The staff doesn't seem particularly competent. First of all, we didn't receive a key card for the laundry room. And halfway through our vacation, neither the gate nor the laundry room was working. Well, at least it’s good when that happens while the front desk is still open. You also often run into situations where two friendly ladies are sitting at the front desk—but only one can work because the second computer isn’t working. So while the employee with the working computer cheerfully chats with the departing guest, the line builds up and the second employee looks out the window, bored... For the price they charge, I expect more than just a nicely decorated reception area and friendly staff.

We liked the pitches (how big they are & the orientation). We also liked the river gently flowing alongside the campingground. The sanitaryblock is outstanding!

The animation program is a fake. We chose for the Grubhof also becoause of the activities the campsite organised. There were no vacant places in any activity in the upcoming 2 weeks. We expected a place we could have a coffee during the whole day. Not in between 2 small intervals.

Onvriendelijk en ongeïnteresseerd personeel (receptie, winkel en restaurant). Te duur voor wat je krijgt (zelfs voor de stroom moet je dagelijks nog extra betalen, ook als je op het tentveld staat). Je moet voor alles bijbetalen (zelfs voor kinderactiviteiten, zoals yoga -> dit is op andere campings gewoon gratis).

Located right on the river. Stunning mountain views. The towns of Lofer and St. Martin are still happy to welcome tourists and host regular events. Many discounts available with the free Saalach Card. Friendly and helpful staff.

Vehicles on the campground sometimes travel at high speeds. Many campers aren't concerned about privacy at the lakeside campsites.

The site is very large at 180 square meters, but only part of it is usable. The trailer and awning must be set up in a specific area facing a designated direction.

A beautiful location right on the Saalach River, large campsites, plenty of space for children, and numerous recreational activities. The Saalachtal Card was especially great, offering many free or included attractions such as mountain railroads, an outdoor pool, and gorges. Very friendly and helpful staff, good restroom facilities, and everything you need for daily life nearby.

Our campsite was right in the entrance area and thus on the main road. In the mornings, it could get a bit noisy due to garbage collection and guests arriving and departing. For us, however, that wasn't a reason to rate the campground any lower overall.

Some sites, like the one we were initially assigned—site 454—were so rocky and uneven that it was impossible to align the trailer. Besides, I don’t think it was actually 180 m². The alternate spot, 514, was great— spacious, level, and with a fantastic view.

The location and the many activities that the Saalach Card makes so easy are fantastic! The river and its beach are perfect for kids.

We think the flat-rate electricity fee on the campground is too expensive. Unfortunately, we were quoted a different price for our stay beforehand. We would have appreciated better communication.

Very nice big pitches. Noted they advertise about 180 SQM but this includes the grass part. On the grass you are not allowed to set up your tent. Nevertheless the pitch is enough for big tent and 2 small ones with the car.  The sanitair equipment is very nice with XXL family bath rooms.

Near the river can be a bit noisy due to swimming and playing kids. Not a problem when you aware of this. We stayed at the normal XXL pitches.

Everything was nice, relaxed, and clean.

The staff at the restaurant were unfriendly. And they could play some music in the restrooms and make them smell fresher.

The spot is one-of-a-kind, with a beautiful view and access to great biking and hiking trails. The stream is perfect for the kids and for people and animals to cool off.

The restrooms had a strong odor and were, in some cases, very dirty—with dried bloodstains on the floor and feces in the toilets. The shower drains were heavily soiled,

Extensive restroom facilities, and always clean We stayed there with our dog and can't say enough good things about it—there's a trash can or hand sanitizer dispenser in every corner! And yet everything was clean! The staff was friendly and always willing to answer our questions! All in all, absolutely worth the money!

It’s amazing how there are always people who don’t put their dogs on a leash, even though it’s required!  We’ve personally been lucky that none of these dogs have found their way over to us, since our dog isn’t very sociable when on a leash! But that’s not the campground operator’s fault!

The front desk is a total disaster. Marijke is the right person for the job, but the two employees at the desk are a disaster. The Greek woman and the one with tattoos are too lazy to work. They blame everything on the system, and according to them, you can’t even book directly anymore. Marijke ended up sorting it out herself. The bill was wrong, and the front desk employee came across as very arrogant. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years, and the decline in service is obvious.
