Fall Vacation
We’ve been to Slatina several times before, always in the early or late season. This time was no exception—we went in September.
We like that the campground still has a bit of its original charm and that some of the sites are very large, level, and well-maintained (we had site 105 this time), and of... course, the crystal-clear sea.
Our daughters stayed in a “Next” mobile home, which was spotlessly clean when we checked in! (We’ve had different experiences in the past.)
There’s a small market with reasonable prices and two restaurants that we visited several times.
The campground was still fairly busy in mid-September but remained quiet (no party people).
The restrooms are in good condition and always clean.
No lines, and the water is always warm.
Very friendly staff at the front desk and throughout the campground.
For us, Slatina is one of the best campgrounds in Croatia—and we’ve been to many!
The value for money is also just right for us.
And yes: It’s a mystery to me why people who don’t like dogs would choose a campground specifically marketed as dog-friendly and then complain about it. (We don’t have a dog at the moment.)

Simply Good
The campground stands out for its good infrastructure (leveled sites, electricity [CEE outlets] / water).

The restaurants serve good pizza and other dishes.

It’s a fairly quiet place, which I really liked, and if you get a site in the first or second row by the sea, you usually have a magnificent view of the ocean.

The site is huge and there are different types of pitches, depending on personal preference. We had one of the outer pitches surrounded by bushes. It was a good mix of privacy and camping feel. Bathhouses 1 and 6 each have a bathroom for wheelchair users. This is only accessible with a key issued by reception and is therefore really exclusive.
Negativa
The beach accesses are unfortunately very stony and steep. However, there is a good, shallow entrance in Tiha Bay that is suitable for a beach wheelchair. However, you will need to bring your own, as the campsite itself does not provide one. Getting around the site is a challenge depending on your fitness level due to the slope.
Very idyllic, well suited for camping with a wheelchair
I really enjoyed my stay, but would be happy if the island were to become more accessible for wheelchair users in terms of tourist offers (e.g. dolphin watching).

Dear Ms. Laura, thank you very much for your visit and for taking the time to share your impressions of your stay with us. We are pleased that your stay was a very pleasant experience overall. While we cannot have much influence on the natural location of the campsite and the terrain, we do try to provide... the best possible service to all our guests, especially our guests with disabilities. We hope to make some of the facilities on both islands even more accessible in the future and look forward to your next visit.

The campsite is in a very idyllic location. There are lots of trees and large, terraced pitches. Some of the access roads to the pitches are a little steep and narrow. But there is plenty of choice and the campsite operator offers help with his own tractor if necessary. There is a small market and a... nice restaurant and café bar. The nearby fishing village can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes. There are more restaurants right by the sea. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, the campsite is ideal. There is no playground or entertainment here, at least not in the low season.

- friendly staff, very accommodating when changing or canceling bookings (in contrast to the local Gebetsroiter agency) - Beautiful pitches near the sea - clean, relatively modern sanitary facilities - nice guys at the tasty pizzaria - well-equipped market with reasonably reasonable prices - The fishing village is within walking distance - beautifully situated
Negativa
- Extremely steep in the upper part, not for the faint of foot - Narrow access roads, often difficult to maneuver -deserted playgrounds & mini golf -no pool -Everything costs extra (water bouncy castles, trampoline) - less beautiful places in the upper part and at the harbor - Sometimes long distances to garbage & sanitary facilities
Nice but also some downsides
People often write about dog problems here. We are not dog lovers, but it worked. Of course, it always depends on the owner.
Even during our stay, there were people who let their 60 kg giants loose on the playground unsupervised and unleashed.

Expensive
In my eyes it's just a rip-off, the cheap pitches are replaced by more expensive pitches, the pitches by the sea are simply upgraded a category and if not all pitches are full, the wash house is simply closed and that in Corona times. And even after 17 years as a guest you are still asked if you have... been there before. The cleaning ladies are very nice but always clean when you want to go to the washhouse in the morning, that seems to be intentional.

The course is located in a "gorge". So if you don't have an electric drive on your bike, you should pedal hard before you can cover the distance
Camping after Corona
Well maintained site. Most of the pitches are located in the forest and are separated by small walls. Each also has its own electricity and water connection.
There is no talk of dogs or children shouting. We were lucky after Corona that it was very quiet. I can't say what it will be like in a few weeks....
The sanitary facilities were clean and everything was fine.
For the communicative, LTE+ is available on the island and there is free WiFi.

From our point of view a recommendation

For me the best campsite in Croatia...
2019 was the 15th time I've been to this campsite since my childhood, sometimes in a caravan, sometimes in a mobile home, sometimes in a tent. I've been to a few other campsites in HR, but this site best meets my expectations of a successful campsite: great sea, great facilities, great nature, great... hiking opportunities. If you are looking for hustle and bustle and a party, this is not the place for you. My children love this place. This year I was there with my tent, and I only noticed one negative thing: the behavior of some dog owners! A few examples: Dogs were repeatedly allowed to do their business on my pitch while I was sitting next to them having breakfast. A lot of dogs (including dog breeds that are sometimes muzzled in Germany) ran around the site off the lead, with their owners following behind on their e-bikes. I had the impression that I was the only one who didn't have a dog ;-) I hadn't noticed this in the mobile home area in recent years, but this year I found it annoying on the campsite itself. There is nothing else to complain about, the sanitary facilities are modern, extremely clean and well-kept, you can relax very well here, the sea is fantastic for swimming and snorkeling, so we don't miss a swimming pool or aqua park.

Be careful when buying meat in the supermarket! Outdated children's playground
Camping away from the hustle and bustle in a fantastic location
We stayed for two weeks in Aug./Sept. on a premium pitch between sanitary facilities 2 and 3. The pitch was really huge, so we were able to drive straight onto it with the caravan. The first few days were a bit windy, but otherwise we had a wonderful time on the island. I have to say, however, that we... had a boat with us and therefore hardly used the beach areas on the campsite and preferred to go to the many beautiful bays on the island. The campsite is well maintained in the parceled out areas, it is very quiet except for 3 times a week when there was live music at the Timun bar, and you hardly notice the many dogs on the site. The sanitary buildings are excellent and we always found them clean. Depending on where you are, the distances to the supermarket or the stall in Thia Bay are sometimes very long and the site is on a slope, as has already been mentioned in many other reviews. You should therefore be able to walk well, otherwise we recommend taking bicycles with you. The supermarket was relatively well stocked in high season. Unfortunately we had a very negative experience there, we were sold "rotten" chicken! Apparently the cold chain was interrupted, which prompted us to go shopping in Cres (approx. 30km) or in the small store in the village of Martinscica (approx. 2km)! The playground for children is no longer up to date for a place of this category and is in need of renovation! There are rumours that a pool is to be built next year, but we don't see this as a positive thing, because Camp Slatina has its special charm just as it is, without a pool and without any great entertainment program! Despite the negative experience in the supermarket, we will be back next year.

Lots of peace and quiet and a relaxing vacation
We were on the site in August and I have to say it is a very nicely laid out campsite. It is very steep for caravans, but there is a bring and fetch service. There should be more activities for teenagers aged 14 and over. We had two dogs with us, but there are still enough black sheep who don't clean up after their dogs, there should be more control. All in all it was a very nice vacation, despite the hardships of the arrival and departure.

"Dear Mr. Pierskalla,
We would like to thank you for your review - we are very pleased that you have rated our campsite as excellent.
We are always striving to make it even better year after year. This year we have introduced additional controls in connection with the stay of dogs, which relate to registration,... bathing, the obligation to keep dogs on a lead...and even urinating. Unfortunately, we cannot monitor everything at all times, but we will pay even more attention to this point.
Regarding the music at Café Timun - there is live music three times a week. We cannot influence the choice of music. It is important to us that they adhere to the house rules, which has worked very well so far. The music always stops at a suitable time (before 11.00 pm).
We hope that you will visit us again next year.

Camping with a sea view
We reserved our pitch in the first row right by the sea months in advance and didn't regret it. Really great pitches with trees for shade and a hammock. Plenty of space, just a few steps to the water! Ideal for snorkeling, SUP etc. We even saw dolphins once. The pitch is quite hilly, which can be a bit... problematic for some caravans. You also have to climb a few meters to get to the sanitary building. We found the week very relaxing, had nice neighbors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and were cooked for by the neighbor (homemade pizza!). You only experience that when camping!!! A really quiet place with everything you need, but if you're looking for a great place, you're in the wrong place. We were there with 2 dogs. At the beginning it's a bit unusual to be given a list of rules of conduct that goes on for pages, but otherwise our dogs felt at home. The dog park at the entrance to the site was particularly helpful in providing the dogs with some variety.

Fact is: As soon as we arrived, there was a couple in the caravan with 2 large German shepherds, not on a lead! We asked the dog owners... to put them on a lead, but they didn't! It happened what had to happen, our dog was attacked and injured by one of the 2 dogs when leaving our mobile home, on a lead of course!
