Toilets need a general renovation
Simple and beautiful
The reservation was kept very simple with an email to which we received a nice reply. I think it's great that you don't have any strict booking conditions, you don't have to pay a deposit and you can also cancel.
We received a very friendly welcome from the groundsman and were taken to our pitch. There... are no pitches, which didn't bother us. Electricity and water can be drawn up to about 50 meters.
You should have a long cord with you and possibly an adapter. There were normal sockets, not Euro sockets. For the toilets and showers you could get a key for a container house for a deposit of 25 euros. While the showers were relatively new, the toilets were very old. However, everything was very clean. Although the site seemed overcrowded, there was no waiting anywhere. There was a short wait when washing up. It was also very clean here, but could be a bit newer. The entire campsite was very well maintained and made a cozy impression. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and you could sit nicely in the beer garden. Bread rolls can be ordered and picked up at reception.
The campsite has a small beach. It's great for swimming and bathing. The water was of good quality, no algae, but is a little brown as is usual in ponds, which is not a problem. It is even clear on the shore.
There are beautiful cycle. - and hiking trails for every taste. At the weekends there is sometimes live music, children can eat stick bread and marchmellovs are made.
There is a nice playground for the children. On Sunday we were even allowed to stay until the afternoon. There are no shopping facilities. Campers should stock up before they arrive.
We all felt very comfortable.

We had chosen this site as a transit site for one night, as it is not far from the highway

Quiet, close to nature

a lot has happened
we were once again on the CP (we have been going 1-2 times a year for about 10 years)
since the "new" groundsman has been in place, things have changed a lot for the better, there are now also activities such as children's parties, evenings with live music, you can tell he lives it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The... Waldschänke has also been completely "revamped"
now people are happy to be guests there again the prices are top, whether it's food or drinks, what we couldn't understand are the loud comments from regulars like "You have a quirk" because he has to pay 3.50 for a 0.4 beer fresh from the barrel, I think it's totally okay, he should go to the discounter and get one in a PVC bottle.
Conclusion: we'd love to come back and stay on the ball at the CP - the guests will be grateful.

The only advantage I can name here is that it's cheap.

Very disappointing
We went camping with friends (all around 22 years old), maybe it was because we were taken 0.0 seriously.

It started with the fact that we had to wait 3 hours on arrival before we were shown to our pitch because a children's party had priority. So we had to wait in front of the barrier in a parking... lot with fully packed cars (including food) at 30 degrees in the sun. Which seems even more ridiculous considering the 2 minutes of "instruction" we finally got.
When we were finally allowed to drive in, nothing was explained to us about the sanitary facilities or anything else, instead we got the first racist, discriminatory and sexist comments.
This continued throughout our stay, we received at least one comment at every encounter. Very far from respectful and professional interaction at eye level, unfortunately. Especially in this day and age, when people are supposed to be more tolerant and open-minded - an absolute NO-GO.
To give just one example - because I'm blonde, blonde jokes about my supposedly associated stupidity were the order of the day.
Showers & washbasins with warm water from 11am to 5pm and closed from 11pm, very inconvenient if you want to take a quick shower after bathing or brush your teeth with warm water after 11pm...
Overall, the condition of the sanitary facilities was poor, it was practically always dirty and smelled unpleasant. The only toilet that was accessible without a key was an outhouse where you had to flush with a watering can.

Conclusion:
All in all, a not really relaxing stay and definitely not a campsite worth recommending.
We won't be going there again.

Had a nice weekend
We stayed at the campsite for the weekend with 15 people, various cars and a dog. The location of the site is very idyllic - wonderful for short or long walks and cycling. The groundsman was awesome! Totally nice welcome, help in every situation (e.g. parking space for all of us together, bread roll... service with pre-order) and he also visits the site again in the evening to make sure everything is OK and has a few nice words for everyone. Absolutely! The groundsman is the heart and soul of this campsite! We can only recommend the campsite! We would love to come back again.
The only downside is the staff in the kiosk - absolutely unacceptable tone towards the guests - really borderline! But if you don't need it and cater for yourself, the campsite is a very nice place to switch off, go on vacation or have a nice weekend with friends.
Thumbs up from us - if only because of the friendly groundsman!

Nothing to complain about
Great campsite, also for travelers passing through
We were there for one night on our way to Italy. The location is ideal because the site is close to the highway and still has that real vacation feeling. We didn't hear anything about the A9.
We were given a really nice welcome, despite the late hour we were given extra supplies and fresh bread rolls the next morning.

There could be more ......
Eigentl a nice place, unfortunately the showers are closed for whatever reason (Corona can't be because the showers don't close at other places in Thuringia) groundskeeper is a great guy nice and friendly.
The gastronomy is dingy and unclean in short it looks like a parking lot but not like a restaurant... and the bad thing is that you can see it immediately when you drive on the pitch. Sanitary facilities roughly clean (you could also remove cobwebs there are also big people).

paradisiacal location in the forest between lake and pond

The groundsman is the grenade ...
Beautiful, quiet place between lakes and ponds. Ideal for swimming and cycling. Away from the towns ... but pure nature. Simple snack bar until 19:30 ... Sanitary facilities simple and clean .... showers with coins 4x 30 seconds ... the groundsman is super friendly and always has a joke on his lips ... unfortunately we only used the site for one night when we were passing through ... highly recommended ... 😀

Nice, pleasant place. Quiet and inexpensive.
Mainly permanent campsites. The site is clean, as are the sanitary facilities. Situated somewhat away from towns. Also suitable for travelers passing through.

Very beautifully situated and quiet site. Toilets and showers in the container. No individual shower cubicles. Snack bar closes at 7pm. Lunchtime rest from 13-15 o'clock, cell phone number groundskeeper, at the same time emergency number, was not available.

Pure nature, quiet location

Clean, but outdated sanitary building
Short vacation at the weekend
We spontaneously contacted the campsite on a Wednesday and booked a pitch for the weekend. When we made our reservation, the nice lady at reception informed us that the summer festival would be taking place on the campsite that weekend and that it could be noisy as a result. As we generally don't mind... parties, it wasn't a problem for us. We spent a lovely three days in the middle of the Plothen ponds. The sanitary building is getting on in years, but is kept clean by the operators. We didn't use the adjoining restaurant. The groundsman kept asking about the well-being of the guests on his trips around the site. The pitches are not parceled out and have an electricity connection within easy reach.

very idyllic location, absolute peace and quiet
We, 2 adults, 2 children 12 and 14 and 2 dogs, were on our way back from Croatia to this really nice place. When we arrived, the reception was already closed, but someone was available by phone who immediately assigned us a nice pitch. Everything was explained to us in a very friendly and detailed manner.... Beautiful location on/in the forest with lots of water all around. Very easy to reach from the A9. The bread trolley came in the morning. Highly recommended.

Just about suitable as a transit campsite. Sanitary and shower area housed in old containers and therefore not heated. Not recommended as a vacation home.
