Other guests have praised the clean sanitary facilities, the new Rolli... shower, modern and smart washing/drying systems, dishwashers and lockers with internal power connections in their reviews. Many of our tourist guests are regulars and come back to us again and again because there is always something going on at Hetzingen campsite.
We understand that the division of the campsite by the Rurtalbahn can be surprising for some guests (the railroad line has only been in existence since 1903), and we welcome the fact that you have managed to deal with this. You can also use the Rurtalbahn if you want to return to Brück after a hike in the Rurtal valley. We are also happy to pass on your information about cashless payment in the self-service & café to the independent owner. She will check how she can improve the service here.
We are delighted that you enjoyed our Hetzinger Stüffgen restaurant so much - the team at this independent restaurant attaches great importance to quality and hospitality.
We would be delighted if you perceive your next stay and the campsite in a different way than a mere transit site on the surface. We recommend hiking in the red sandstone mountains, mountain biking in the Eifel National Park or gigantic views of the Rursee in Schmidt. Attractive places such as Nideggen, Heimbach, Zülpich and the town of Monschau, which is famous beyond the borders, are waiting to be discovered by you.

Very nicely located pitch, directly on the Rur, pure cooling, even for our dog.
Toilets and showers always clean and modern and easy to reach.
Unfortunately, shower coins are required for showering, which takes 5 minutes.
If you... want to shower for longer, you have to get out of the shower cubicle in between and throw coins in, which is not nice, especially when you are wet.
Unfortunately, you can't insert 2 coins.
Basically it's okay with coins, but you should run for more than 5 minutes for 80 cents.
From here you can quickly walk or drive to hikes or MTB tours in the national park and then go on wonderful tours and enjoy nature.
Long walks with the dog are also easy.
The Rursee is a short distance away, but is easy to cycle to.
At the weekend, the site is very busy with short-stay campers.

Alternatively, we also offer a one-euro shower, which has a longer duration and is therefore more comfortable. We would like to explain to you how our pricing comes about: You came to us spontaneously and were... able to choose between different pitch categories. You deliberately chose a particularly beautiful pitch in the front row directly on the Rur - a location that many guests really appreciate. These pitches are somewhat more expensive due to their special location.
In addition, we normally only rent out our Rur pitches for three nights or more and have accommodated you in this respect. During your booking period, all other Rur pitches were booked, which has influenced our dynamic price system. With a group of four adults, this also affects the total price per person.
If a reasonably priced pitch is important to you, we naturally also offer pitches that are more attractively priced. We will be happy to advise you so that you can find exactly the pitch that suits your wishes and budget.

In the interests of nature and environmental protection, we are constantly thinking about how we can keep our ecological footprint here in the Eifel as small as possible. We do this, for example, with... solar power, solar-powered water heating and a complete overhaul of the heating system, which is due in the fall. Taps with sensors and water-saving taps are also part of this for us.
It's interesting to hear what your contribution is to sustainability, environmental protection and ecology as a motorcycle tourer in the Eifel and how you avoid unnecessary noise in the Eifel (and elsewhere). The train's horn is a warning signal and I can well understand that it can be annoying - especially for motorcyclists who don't have much to do with noise on their helmets. I'm sorry that you felt that way here at one of the best campsites in the Eifel.

We begrijpen dat het geluid van de trein met... de toeter soms storend kan zijn. As you well know, we hope that this will be less in the future due to the new automatic overway installations. De ligging midden in de natuur, het uitzicht op het kasteel en de nabijheid van het stadje maken Campingplatz Hetzingen... inderdaad bijzonder.
We begrijpen dat het jammer was dat je vanwege de stroming niet in het riviertje kon zwemmen, maar fijn dat je dit niet als een minpunt van de camping hebt gezien. Het doet ons goed dat je genoten hebt hebt van je verblijf en het eten in ons restaurant.

There is a restaurant right on the pitch (although we didn't "test"... it). Hiking is perfect here. Vlt. 3 showers for men in the upper part of the site are sometimes a bit few. The train passing through never bothered us. Bread roll service available and the app with the arrival video was very helpful. The free WiFi was stable and sufficient. Zu Deiner Anmerkung zu den "Huckeln" auf zwischen einigen... Plätzen möchten wir darauf hinweisen, dass unser Campingplatz im Mittelgebirge Eifel liegt und teilweise terrassierte Stellplätze hat. Um Dir das jedoch Einparken so einfach wie möglich zu machen, begleiten wir unsere anreisenden Gäste gerne direkt zum Platz und unterstützen beim Einrichten.

Everyone is on first-name terms, which creates a family feeling. Although it was our first time there, we immediately felt like we were part of a community. The site is well-kept and clean and the staff are very friendly. There was nothing missing in our rented trailerNegativnoThere's not really anything negative to report. The barrier times at the level crossing take away a bit of the feeling of freedom, especially if you are out and about during the day and only return after 6 p.m., the car has to stay outside. You survive it, but of course it would be nicer if there was another way of doing it.Uncomplicated oasis of peaceWe stayed at the campsite from Tuesday to Friday and had a great time all round. The quiet and relaxed atmosphere is particularly noteworthy - ideal for getting away from it all and really switching off.
One thing we noticed straight away was that people are on first-name terms on the site. This immediately... creates a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere and conveys the feeling of being part of a small community - uncomplicated and warm.
The campsite itself was very well-kept. The sanitary facilities were clean, modern and cleaned regularly - you immediately feel at home. The staff were also extremely friendly, helpful and always approachable, which made the stay even more enjoyable.
The restaurant on site was a real highlight - everything was just right here: quality, taste and atmosphere. Absolutely recommendable!
Our rented trailer was thoughtfully furnished, very clean and cozy. We wanted for nothing - perfect for anyone who wants to experience camping in a different way.
There were several leisure activities in the immediate vicinity, which we were informed about directly at reception and again via the very well-designed app. Some of the costs are covered by the campsite. We were happy to take advantage of these offers and experienced some unforgettable moments.

I didn't even notice it anymore.Eifelreif - catchy, simple, GOOD, for me very goodExperienced camper, now a motorhome passenger with a handicap, scooter and dog, so very special requirements (and fussy 😉) and still:
In almost 50 years of camping experience, I have never come across a site that is so carefully and attentively managed and designed to meet the needs of campers.
Even... on a long weekend with a fully booked site, we only encountered attentive, friendly and helpful staff.
The campsite is up to date:
With the campsite app, you can order bread rolls for the next morning well informed.
The bathrooms we used were all new with disinfectant in every toilet.
The best disabled bathroom ever! Really at ground level, with a swing-open door, large, with freedom of movement, a screen (!), a baby bathtub with a rainforest shower head, ...
And a little something:
Not only several hooks on the walls, but also at different heights.
Not worth mentioning? That's actually true, but unfortunately it is! (Thanks for that!)
This safe with electric charging facilities for cell phones or electric bikes is aimed at the needs of campers:
Pleasant paths for dogs and their owners with increased "offers".
On the banks of the very shallow Rur, where even water-shy dogs can drink safely.
Lots of places to sit,
whether you want to dream away
or want to have a chat.
In contrast to other campsites, there is no separation of permanent campers and holidaymakers. Even the accommodation that is rented out on the site is scattered and very different. This quickly creates a sense of togetherness.
Lots of greenery and high, dense hedges contribute to the peaceful atmosphere.
And tolerance!
Use the restaurant terrace, even if the restaurant is still closed.

We are very pleased that you emphasize the open and tolerant atmosphere on the site, the coexistence of permanent campers and vacation guests as well as the many green areas and seating areas. Your comments regarding the shower machine are not new. The electrical voltage applied to these machines is 220 volts and we do not wish to install them in the shower cubicle for safety reasons: Agreed? - We will include the fenced-in dog run area in our plans as soon as we have permission to convert the nature reserve into a dog area. We are always striving to improve our service and are open to suggestions. Waste disposal in the lower section has also been suggested several times by guests, but so far no one has been able to answer the question of where the (smelly) containers should be placed and how we should deal with at least five different waste trucks per week, some of which come to empty them at 7:00 in the morning. What ideas do you have?

It is a unique feature of our campsite that the Rurtal Railway has been running through here since 1903, and it has to honk to warn us about the level crossing. The existence of the Rurtalbahn probably didn't come to your attention when you were preparing for your vacation. Perhaps you only happened to read the few guest reviews that did not mention the existence of the Rurtalbahn and its warning signal. With regard to your comments on the showers, however, we take your feedback seriously and will discuss with our service team how we can provide you with flawless showers in future, even on the busiest days of the year. We understand that you can expect a freshly cleaned and spotless shower cubicle at all times, even on a Whitsun weekend.
We are known for creating a welcoming environment for all guests, offering real value to our campers, constantly developing the campsite and being the friendliest campsite in Europe (with multiple awards).

Katja G.april 2025Pozitivno- Idyllic location in the valley. - Always clean sanitary facilities. - Not overcrowded even when fully booked. - Nice permanent campers - friendly staffNegativno- A train crosses the square every half hour and has to sound its horn 3 times - Only one playground, therefore long distances from the upper part of the site - Our pitch (538) had a great view, but was uneven - Pitch was difficult to reach - humpy lawn edge stones in front of it made it difficult to get a pitch - dynamic pricing meant a price for us that was quite high and for which we could find more suitable pitches elsewhere - No cycle paths suitable for small children in the area - Shower tokensIdyllic place with a very friendly team, but not for us.The place is certainly great if you go there without a child, the child is older or you can live with being down by the Rur and right next to the train near the only playground.
The upper part of the site is pretty much a cuddle camping area. It was too cramped for us, even though we had no direct neighbors... in front of us and were in a very idyllic spot.
With a small child and motorhome, we are reliant on well-developed cycle paths or cycle paths suitable for bike trailers. We didn't have that. To go shopping, you would have had to go up the hill on an e-bike, either directly on the road or through woods and meadows. Caravans and cars are better here. It's also a shame that the videos often shown on social media only show the lower part of the Rur.
It's certainly a beautiful place. But not for us. We wouldn't come back, but we didn't have a bad vacation there either.

But that's complaining at a high levelVacation 2025We arrived on Easter Monday. We were immediately very impressed by the beautiful landscape. The operators and the whole team are super friendly and helpful and always ready to help and answer any questions with patience and dedication. On the site, people say YOU and we felt very welcome from start to... finish.
The site is in very good condition, everything is clean and tidy. The toilets and showers were also always clean.
In the morning there are delicious bread rolls that you have to order in advance, we were happy to use this service and were very grateful for the offer.
The people in the region are very friendly and you can do a lot if you want to, you can also just enjoy the castle, the view and the nature.

The operators and the entire team were very accommodating. Great Easter program for young and old:-) The pitches were large enough for caravans and cars. The sanitary facilities were very clean at all times, including disinfection and paper. The location is perfect for hikers and cyclists.NegativnoThere were none for usGreat campsite with a super teamWe were on the site over Easter with 4 caravans.
The operators gave us a friendly welcome and checked us in very easily.
We were then shown our pitches and were able to move into our pitches.
The sanitary facilities were clean at all times and there was paper (not 1-ply) and disinfectant in the toilets....
We were there for 4 days over Easter and there was a lot on offer.
There was an Easter market, Easter fire, music and drinks.
On Sunday there was even the Easter bunny on the site, who had hidden eggs for the children......tolle Sache.
On Sunday we were supposed to use a "Dutch Oven", but unfortunately we had made a mistake and only bought normal charcoal instead of briquettes.
We went to reception and asked if the small store had any briquettes, but Gereon the campsite manager immediately took care of it and got us the charcoal we needed (from wherever).
