OK for one night
Reception was ok.
We looked for a pitch.
It was on a hill that could only be reached via a slippery path.
The sanitary facilities were not in good condition, not enough and not clean either.
It was fine for one night, but no more.

Everything very simple. Electricity would have to be renewed.

To explore Ålesund the pitch is O.K. The pitches up the mountain are often parceled out, but not at the top. The electricity boxes could be renewed. Only one wash house. When the place is full, it gets tight. The staff are friendly and helpful. You have a beautiful view of the fjord. There are lots of simple cabins.

Disorganized transit area
After a narrow entrance, the campsite has a spacious area right next to the reception. This is housed in a spacious building with a TV and seating. We were treated in German and always in a very friendly and courteous manner. The choice of pitch is difficult, as you have a free choice of pitch, but compliance... with the fire regulations (3m distance min.) leads to considerable restrictions on this very small pitch. In addition, many campers think in terms of ownership and space, which makes it difficult in the high season. We had to maneuver twice before we resigned ourselves to our fate. I can only recommend the owner to parcel out the pitches and allocate them according to vehicle size. In addition to the economic advantages - higher capacity utilization and thus higher income - it creates more justice on his very small campsite. What is particularly bad is that later on, the boss himself abolishes all the rules and designates so-called SOS pitches and no more fire regulations are observed. Sometimes a Belgian is allowed to set up a seating area on the roadside, blocking the road, which is of course also an escape route. There is an absolute shortage of parking spaces. The sanitary facilities are in good technical condition and relatively new. The cleanliness is in need of considerable improvement. The pitch close to the town offers a wonderful view of the town, the fjord and the hinterland with its snow-covered peaks (mind you, this is August 1, 2015). Unfortunately, there is no alternative to this site as the next site is a long way out (at least 17 km). If you don't have high expectations and you arrive in the early afternoon, you will certainly find something suitable - so I would ultimately give the site a 1.5 to 2-star rating.

Transit area near the city
Typical transit site near the city where not only travelers can be found. The cleanliness of the sanit. Facilities left a lot to be desired. They were simply dirty and were not cleaned during the three days we were on the site. It is only a few minutes by car to the town and the Aksla viewpoint. Everything... is crowded when cruise ships are at anchor. When we were there, there were three ocean liners! As Volsdalen is the only campsite near Alesund, caravanners have no choice but to use it despite the bad reviews.

Beautiful location by the sea
Location slightly elevated above the beach, bathing bay 5 min, town 20 min. Friendly service. Small, slightly elevated pitch for tents.

Small campsite in a beautiful location above the sea, approx. 5 min walk to the beach and approx. 30 min to the town. The site is mainly asphalted, similar to a parking lot, which is not so bad considering all the rain in the area. Some terrace pitches directly with sea view. Sanitary facilities, let's... say: rustic. Just like they are in Norway. Dishwashing basins were worn out and without any storage space worth mentioning. However, they were cleaned very thoroughly while I was there. Wifi is available. Friendly and hard-working groundsman.
