Lots of groups listening to loud music, no consideration for campers who want peace and quiet, outdated site plan, cyclists traveling at speeds that are dangerous. dangerous.
If you want peace and quiet you should go somewhere else
Many family groups or other groups that are very loud and show no consideration. The music was blaring loudly, reminiscent of Ballermann. Families who let their children play on the neighbors' pazelle, even though they have enough space. If you want peace and quiet, you've lost. Cyclists who ride so fast that pedestrians can only hop to the side.

Campsite undergoing radical change
By the river and in the city
We were guests of the Saale-Insel campsite from 26.06.2025 to 02.07.2025.
The island campsite in Gemünden am Main has had a new operator for two years.
As the campsite looked during our visit at the end of June/beginning of July 2025, many permanent campers were given notice.
The campsite is probably... in a state of upheaval, but also in need of renovation. The one chemical toilet disposal at the beginning of the dishwashing room took some getting used to. The sanitary facilities were clean and technically in order during our stay. Due to the fact that this is a city site, the bread roll service was perfectly adequate.
The highlight of the campsite for us was the canoe rental directly at the campsite.

We will probably come back again.

good location, large pitches, very nice and helpful operators, great swimming pool right next door, pizzeria makes good pizza

I can't think of anything
Nice short vacation
Despite our late arrival, we received a friendly welcome (by telephone) and were greeted with extra service as we had a technical problem with our vehicle. And that is really not a matter of course. Many thanks again for that!
We will definitely be back!!!

Walking distance to the city. Very clean sanitary facilities.

20m behind hedge on main road, no noise barrier to outdoor pool, Pitches partly neglected
To loud....
At home I booked pitch M5 with an ACSI discount. On arrival the pitch was run down. About 15m long and very narrow. The very friendly lady at reception let us change to pitch M4.
There was a flowering clover meadow with a terrace. Three times I asked for a gardener to mow because we were surrounded by... bees. On the 3rd day they mowed without a grass catcher.
Many of the pitches had tires from the 80s. We were afraid that the tires would be destroyed.
During the whole time I never saw a worker who renovated the campsite to today's standards.

The location and the swimming pool
Olumsuz yanları
Overcrowded Defective old dirty toilets No hot water for flushing Constant queuing: Toilets, flushing and showering
Overcrowded campsite with too few ancient sanitary facilities
The site was totally overcrowded on the Corpus Christi weekend. The sanitary facilities are not designed for this and are also partially defective. There were no bread rolls in the morning. The table tennis room was constantly closed. The mini golf course is partly broken. The outdoor pool was the highlight.

The area is very beautiful. You can go cycling, walking, fishing, boating....
Olumsuz yanları
The sanitary facilities are too small for a fully occupied pitch. Unfortunately no possibility to disinfect the toilets. The facilities are very old and not particularly clean. No shop on the pitch.
Too many campers for the sanitary facilities.
It is a beautifully situated site between two rivers. You can use the swimming pool free of charge.

Located directly in the village in beautiful nature
Olumsuz yanları
Partial renovation work necessary
Short vacation in Gemünden
Beautiful, quiet campsite in a prime location right next to the village. On a small island surrounded by woods. Unfortunately, all the beautiful pitches directly on the banks of the Saale are rented out to permanent campers. The tourist pitches are on a flat meadow, you have plenty of space! Beautifully... situated for excursions by bike or on foot. Unfortunately, there are no shops or catering facilities on the site itself. But there are numerous options in the immediate vicinity. The wash house needs a refurbishment when the opportunity arises. Nothing else to complain about, we had a great time here!

Friendly staff. Good hygiene concept.
Olumsuz yanları
The whole place just looks run-down.
Condition of the campsite
Years ago, we discovered Gemünden as an excellent location for our motorhome, from where we could go on rallies in all directions by bike. We returned a few years later and were disappointed to find that the campsite had gone backwards rather than forwards. The friendliness of the staff and the hygiene... concept should be emphasized. Everything else, however, is in a morbid state. I have attached some pictures to show you what I mean.
Obviously, permanent campers in particular have simply left their waste behind. Overall, the site looks unkempt and does not invite you to come back. What's more, the entire ground needs to be leveled and integrated into an attractive overall picture. The surrounding parts, such as the mini golf shack, also look as if the whole thing will soon disintegrate. In any case, hardly anyone will be visiting this square any time soon; we are one of them.
In my opinion, it would be in the interests of the town to urgently invest in the area and to follow positive examples such as Kitzingen (Camping Schiefer Turm), where the price/performance ratio is also right, unlike Gemünden.

Friendly place
Super campsite. Had a pitch at the playground with our 2 year old. Outdoor pool is included and really great. To a supermarket about 10min walk. The town is also about 10 minutes on foot. We stayed here for three nights and loved it. Ede... so the supermarket is really great. The food in town was also great. I don't know who is giving negative reviews here.

- Close to the city - Peace and quiet - Leisure opportunities
Olumsuz yanları
- only one sanitary area with showers
Quiet and beautifully situated
We were in Gemünden for several days and had chosen our pitch very far back. From there, the showers were only accessible by bike. Toilets and flushing facilities are closer. It wouldn't be bad if there were a few more showers next to this sanitary block. The area and the little town are fantastic. The... old town with its restaurants and cafés is just a few steps away. The supermarket is easy to reach by bike. If you want to go hiking, this is the place for you, there are very well signposted hiking trails and nature trails around the site. Those who come in summer also have free entry to the outdoor pool, which is right next to the campsite.

Pleasant surroundings and nice people
Olumsuz yanları
Quietness is somewhat disturbed by nearby train and air traffic.
Positive overall impression
We, 2 people (over 60) were in Gemünden on the Saaleinsel from 13.04. - 21.04.2019. The area is best explored by bike. From easy tours along the rivers to challenging MTB trails, everything is available. The villages are picturesque and invite you to take a stroll. The infrastructure of the CP is up to date. The adjacent outdoor pool is certainly an enrichment in summer. Canoes and kayaks can be hired directly on site.

Beautiful location with swimming pool
Nice operators and an ideal location for bike tours and canoe trips. The adjacent swimming pool is also very good (free entry for campers). Small mini golf course on site. Trains did not bother us. Bread rolls can be picked up from the kiosk.

A decent space for an extended weekend, for example
Campsite on a peninsula in the Franconian Saale. Access to the adjacent outdoor pool included in the price. Sanitary facilities a little older, but ok. Gemünden is a maximum of 10 minutes' walk away and an Edeka supermarket is also within easy walking distance. An ideal place for a long weekend.

Olumsuz yanları
Long walking distances to the sanitary facilities No shopping facilities on site
Great employees
The staff are very friendly. Unfortunately, there is no opportunity to have a drink or a snack on site. The children are always happy about an ice cream :-) We were at the campsite on Ascension Day, maybe it is more possible in summer. Provided the kiosk at the swimming pool is open. For a short vacation, however, the place is highly recommended. Canoeing and the nearby city center invite you to do so.

Close to the Main cycle path; extensive cycle tours possible here
Olumsuz yanları
Sanitary not quite so pleasant.
Always good for a weekend trip
In this beautiful area, located almost directly on the Main cycle path, a very good opportunity to spend a long weekend. Go canoeing, cycling, walking or hiking or use the adjacent swimming pool or simply enjoy the view of the Spessart from your mobile home. Depending on occupancy, not always quiet and... the sanitary facilities could do with a refurbishment, but otherwise a pleasant place to stay. If you have a bike with you, you can quickly stock up in the stores in the area.

+ Gemünden is within walking distance + very friendly staff + free entry to the outdoor pool + pavilion for motorcyclists and cyclists
Olumsuz yanları
+ few showers/sanitary facilities + no fireplace
Beautifully situated campsite on the Saale
The site is beautifully situated with many leisure activities. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the market square in Gemünden with ice cream parlors, bakery (breakfast available) and stores. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The site itself is very flat and open, few shady trees, many permanent campers.... Sanitary type "public swimming pool", rather cramped but relatively clean, even with hairdryer. Showers and entry to the swimming pool free of charge. There is a pavilion with seating for cyclists.

Large spacious pitches, large tent meadow/playground for children, free outdoor pool next door, friendly permanent campers
Olumsuz yanları
No W-Lan, no bread service, long walk to the showers,
Campsite has more potential ....
We were there for the weekend with the caravan. At the reception we were greeted in a proper command tone. They didn't know which pitch was free. It's all done by the groundsman. So we went to the said position and at some point the groundsman arrived on a lawnmower tractor. The pitch itself was a great... size, but not mowed. About 10-15 cm high. Well placed caravan on it. The 25 meter power cable was not enough, because the power distribution is only every 5 plots approx. neighbor lent us a cable otherwise we would have had no electricity. The yellow sanitary building that the groundsman told us was blue. Luckily it wasn't that far from us. All the buildings are very dated but clean. Unfortunately it smells strongly of urine. (You could also contain the whole thing with fragrances). The walk to the showers is very long if you have your place quite far back. There is only one building with about 10 showers per gender. Without a bike you're really lost here. There is no bread service but the town is not too far away, about 15 minutes' walk. We wanted to hire a bike but the 4 bikes available were already fully booked for the next few days. (Strange, 4 bikes for a campsite with about 300 pitches). WLAN is displayed but from the "command center" you only get the information that there is a malfunction and no key. Due to the bridge construction work in Gemünden, you can hear the jackhammer from the excavator banging all day long. You can also hear noises from the road and the train. The restaurant is now only a snack bar due to a change of ownership.
