The booking process was very poor; the price for one night with a standard car and a small tent is too expensive.
A nice campground with some organizational shortcomings
Booking the campsite was extremely frustrating—it was fully booked online, no one answered the phone, and it only worked when I called the booking hotline for the second time. The first time, they couldn’t help me and even forgot to call me back.
The young Austrian woman at the front desk, however,... was very friendly and knowledgeable; everything went quickly and smoothly there.
BUT: even though the campground was apparently fully booked, not even a quarter of the tent field was occupied.
And the price isn’t justified either—over 40 euros per night for a small tent and a regular car.
But the campground itself is very nice.

Mishaps, bad luck, and glitches right from the start!
Unfortunately, the problems started right from the moment we booked through the reservation center! They don’t understand German very well, and things didn’t go smoothly the first time around! We had two RVs and, of course, wanted to park next to each other. You can specify this when booking. Then I... tried several times to call the front desk directly so we could park next to each other—but no one answered, and I had to hang up after three-quarters of an hour each time.
Upon arrival, the Platinum spots were indeed reserved, but one was all the way up front and the other was diagonally in the very back. According to the front desk, changing the reservation wasn’t possible. So they banished us to the tent field. We couldn’t even use the new, more distant washhouse because we didn’t have access to it. Instead, we had one washhouse with four showers for the entire, large campground. Unfortunately, this isn’t up to Falkensteiner standards! The extra cost compared to other campgrounds isn’t worth it!

The XXL pools are absolutely amazing. The Wellness Alm was also a real highlight.

There was absolutely nothing to complain about. One small suggestion: maybe get a few kettlebells for the gym and add a water dispenser.
Top Vacations
It really is one of the best campgrounds I've ever been to. Great service, excellent facilities, and helpful staff. There was absolutely nothing I could complain about. We'll definitely be back.

We are absolutely thrilled with the Grubhof!
We were particularly impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the facilities and cleanliness of the restrooms, and the beautiful location, which allowed us to take our dogs for walks several times a day.
We will definitely be back.

Location excellent with plenty of cycling routes and hiking choices. Scenery excellent. Showers and general personal hygiene areas excellent and always clean. Nice restaurant albeit flies are a nuisance

Laundery facilities good but notices should be put up regarding removing washing expediently. More adult only areas.

The campground is in a wonderfully peaceful location on the Saalach River, nestled in a stunning mountain setting along the Tauern Cycle Route.
Shopping options are available both on-site and within easy walking distance.
The possibilities for day trips are endless.
The restroom facilities are well-spaced... and very well-maintained. The only minor criticism here is that two showers were out of service, which resulted in some waiting time.
The staff at the front desk is very courteous, and the campground is well-maintained.
The zoning is a good idea (at least for us as dog owners).
We’ll definitely be back.

Highly recommended!
I've known Lofer for many years. This was my first time at the campground, though. And it was so nice that I booked two more nights right on the way back. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the food at the restaurant is absolutely delicious! The restrooms are spotless! It’s also great for my dog—you can set out on lots of walks and hikes right from the campground.

The location right on the Saalach River is beautiful, the campsites are the perfect size, the staff is friendly, and the sauna is lovely.

Not all restrooms are in working order, and there is a noticeable shortage of staff at the front desk.
Unfortunately, it's not as good as it used to be
We’ve known the Grubhof Campground since before it became part of the Falkenstein Group. It’s still a lovely campground in a beautiful location—the sauna area is top-notch and well-maintained. Unfortunately, Falkensteiner’s staffing policy seems to be leading to such cost-cutting, especially at the front... desk, that where there used to be two staff members, there is now only one, which results in that person being overwhelmed and longer wait times at the front desk. The staff do their best to remain friendly in this situation, but you can tell they’re stressed.
The restroom facilities are clean, but unfortunately not all of them are usable.
Falkensteiner urgently needs to rethink its staffing—in previous years, the campground deserved our highest rating—but the reception desk is a critical point for a campground; cutting corners here too much will result in lower customer satisfaction.

Beautiful location right on the Saalach River. Very nice, spacious restroom facilities, with large, separate, soundproofed toilets and showers. Very clean and well-maintained. Large campsites.

We had reserved two campsites. Despite repeatedly asking to be placed next to each other, when we arrived we were told that we wouldn’t be staying together. That came as a shock to us, since we had planned to vacation together. Fortunately, a capable staff member who had noticed this during our second booking was there, and we were offered adjacent spots that were available. So it had a happy ending. Nevertheless, we would like to mention this, as it was incomprehensible to us that, despite our repeated requests and notifications that this was a condition for our arrival, there were no adjacent spots available.
A very well-maintained campground
We'd love to come back, since we really liked the place. Next time, though, we'd call ahead to clarify a few things that are important to us.

We were warmly welcomed by a young woman when we first arrived.
It was also nice that we were able to set up our tent early.
I had already made a reservation in March and specified where we wanted to stay.
When we arrived, they couldn’t tell us where we would be staying.
So there were still a few spots... available.
We eventually found a spot.
Here, Abdulmutallab, no Wi-Fi—I mentioned this a few times at the front desk; someone there said they were working on it.
After a few days, I went back there, but other staff members knew nothing about it, and they suggested we just move to another spot.
You’re not going to move after one week just to stay for another week.
That doesn’t solve the problem
Also at the shop, the gentleman there isn’t really friendly, and the young girl—who probably still needs training—doesn’t say a word
Very unfortunate; we’ve been coming here for several years and have never experienced this before—everyone was always very friendly and polite
Also, the lady behind the counter doesn’t seem friendly at all—you walk in and she just stares at you with a scowl.
That’s no way to welcome anyone.
I’ve heard this from several people at the campground, too.
It’s really a shame that things have changed so much.
Hopefully you’ll do something about it so people will keep coming back to this beautiful place
And so we feel welcome again. I think the price of the tent field is way too high compared to the regular sites

Unfortunately, there aren't enough spots for dog owners—the dog zone also includes campers without dogs, which further limits the choice of spots. It would be nice to have one or two more streets for dogs—there are just so many campers with dogs.
A very nice campground
The campground is beautifully nestled in a mountainous setting, offering opportunities for lovely walks. The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. The restrooms are excellent and clean. The Tuesday market is also great, where you can buy high-quality local... products.
Unfortunately, the spots for campers with dogs are very limited; a larger number would be desirable, especially since campers without dogs also have access to this area—which further limits the selection.
We would love to come back.

Dreamlike time out
It was our first stay at the Grubhof campsite. We received a very friendly welcome as soon as we arrived. The check-in went smoothly and the allocated pitch was fantastic.
The landscape is simply stunning and, in my opinion, can be seen from every single pitch.
The sanitary facilities were always clean... and of the highest standard.
We will definitely be back.
A big thank you to the whole team for creating the perfect conditions for a relaxing and restful stay.

Meadow not mowed,,, bread rolls in the store inedible,, drinks at exorbitant prices,, food so-so and overpriced,, reception partly overwhelmed,, barrier to the entrance did not recognize vehicle license plates,,,will not come again
Not what it used to be,,,since there is a new owner everything is different
Much worse now than two years ago,,were there with 4 motorhomes,,each had a different price per pitch.
Single person was more expensive than at the time in the camper.

Very clean sanitary facilities with daily cleaning, well located, as there is a lot to discover in the area and Salzburg is also less than an hour away. We stayed there for 3 nights as two trainees and for our budget it was simply mega.
The only downside was that nobody checked how/if the showers could be adjusted.
