Very satisfied
Very beautiful and peaceful, with spacious sites and a prime location, so you can start hiking right away. Thanks to the various terraces and plenty of trees and bushes, you feel very secluded and have plenty of shade even on hot days. The owners are very friendly, accommodating, and flexible.

The campground is nice in principle. The restrooms are clean. However, the system for using shower cards is confusing. They say water is scarce and precious. Yet there are no plugs in the sinks, and at the “luxury” sites, the water can theoretically run forever.
The building’s facade desperately needs cleaning. I haven’t seen anything this dirty in a long time.

Fantastic natural campsite
We spent a week in October 2025 with our 2 dogs on the beautifully situated nature campsite. Camper van with awning. Comfort pitch, very modern, with fresh water and complete disposal at the pitch. Electricity price is fully in order. The operators were ALL very friendly, contrary to some reviews! The... pitch was partly gravel, partly meadow. Very warm welcome, with a welcome gift for the dogs. Top. The campsite very nice and well maintained. Sanitary facilities were not needed. WLAN available, was not used (own on board). No restaurant or kiosk on site. Bread roll service not in the low season. Too bad. No problem for us as self-caterers. Very quiet pitch. Access road barely audible. Many permanent campers. Park-like ponds for relaxing. Overall a very nicely laid out campsite. Only the reception building doesn't quite fit in visually. The tarmac access road to the campsite also leads to various villages and is therefore heavily used. Speed limit 100! Not pleasant for hikers with dogs, as there are hardly any alternatives to get to the hiking trails on the corresponding side. Some of the hiking trails are well developed, but some are heavily used by farmers. Correspondingly difficult to walk on. The region offers too few accessible sights for hikers, which is certainly sufficient for permanent campers from the predominantly urban areas. Despite the moderate weather, we felt comfortable on this beautiful site and will certainly be back again.

The campsite is actually in the middle of the forest. The campsite is laid out in terraces and the pitches are spacious. That was already the positive.

The pictures on the Internet and the advertising at the trade fair promise a lot. When we were there in the fall of 2023, it almost hit me. - Operators make a grumpy impression (we have to be here when campers come) - The main building is a run-down concrete block, sanitary facilities in the UE. Showers available with no real space for your own utensils. Toilets like grandma's from the 60s. Black and white ceramics without toilet seat. - Sink only outside, totally dirty from the beautiful nature. Home for all insects etc. - No restaurant on site - Playground built on a slope in a totally run-down state, you can't even let your children go alone. Far too dangerous. - Everything looks outdated, you could get much more out of the place. All in all, a very boring place. The only highlight was the fire department exercise on the day of arrival. Schleiden has been deleted from the navigation system.
Pure nature campsite
The tenants should fundamentally rethink their concept here.

Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place for families.
If you want to experience something, you have to drive a few kilometers by car.

Nature camping
The site is located in a small valley, 6 km from Schleiden. It is therefore also very quiet at night. There is a bread roll service and a few Eifel products to buy.
Unfortunately, that was all the positives. The campsite is getting on in years, unfortunately "nature camping" is synonymous with renovation... backlog for some. The toilets reminded me of my kindergarten days 55 years ago, I didn't know that the small, black and white toilets without seats still existed. The showers are newer and big enough, but unfortunately only have a micro shelf. Not enough for the toilet bag. (The showers in sanitary building 2 are better, more storage space) The building and facilities are very worn. There was no lighting at all on our pitch, luckily we always have flashlights with us. The sinks are outside, very dirty, the same dirt the whole 3 days. One of the 4 sinks didn't work.
You can hike or cycle from the campsite (mountains!), and it's only 5km to the Hellenthal game reserve.

Quiet campsite
An ideal campsite for us and our dogs.
Quiet, nice permanent campers, separate motorhome pitches. The campsite owners were
friendly, helpful and always up for a chat.
to have a little chat. Campers looking for a party or glamping are in the wrong place here. The starry sky was particularly beautiful on clear nights. Conclusion: a campsite that fulfilled our wishes. We will be back.

Very quiet campsite. Very remote, so a restaurant on the site would be nice. Bread roll service available, but only 2 types of bread rolls and croissant. Sanitary facilities not at all as described on the homepage. WC's without glasses. Disinfectant was not available for the gentlemen in 4 toilets /... not refilled for a long time. Sanitary rooms could at least use a coat of paint. Only 3 sinks for the whole campsite. And the sinks are also very small. The water is not really hot. There is a football pitch, but only with small goals, which wouldn't be bad, but the pitch isn't fenced in. Miss the goal once and the children have to search for the ball in the waist-high nettles. The basketball hoop is blocked by branches. The operators could be friendlier. The campsite is listed with ACSI, but ACSI cards are not accepted. According to the operators, the site is only advertised there, which was pointed out to us in a very unfriendly manner.

Camping in the middle of nature
If you just want to relax in the middle of nature, enjoy hiking and can live without cell phone reception for a few days, this is definitely the place for you! The site is in the middle of the forest and the pitches are generously sized. The different heights of the meadows give you the feeling of being... almost alone. To get to the wash house, you have to take a few paths, but there are always new shortcuts in the middle of nature. Fresh water is only available in the immediate vicinity with a water key. If you are looking for the luxury of water on site and TV and cell phone reception, this is not the place for you. If you are simply looking to get back to the roots, this is the place for you! What we found was what we were looking for! Peace, relaxation and wonderful excursion destinations! We would love to come back!

Ideal for a short vacation
I came across the site through Cool Camping Deutschland and was there with my camper van over the Corpus Christi holiday. I used the site as a starting point for road bike tours in the Eifel National Park. The site is beautifully situated and I had a comfortable pitch right by the stream. Wonderful.... This applies to the entire facilities. The tent meadow is also very nice. Hardly any cell phone reception, but good WLAN. The site is relatively remote, so it would be good if the campsite could offer a restaurant/café. But ok, you know beforehand. About the sanitary facilities: Ok, it's a bit annoying with the chip card and it's also relatively expensive. And it's actually a bit cramped, but that's ok. I also think the overall price is ok. Regarding the friendliness of the owners, which has already been criticized here: Well, they're not chatty, but they were correct. I will definitely be back.

The site is nice and quiet and also attractively designed. Good WLAN but hardly any mobile phone connections. At least in April neither bread service nor shopping facilities. The sanitary facilities were clean but only very functional. Everything is far too narrow! Someone with a waist circumference... of more than 100 cm will not be able to bend down in the toilets. Then there is the unspeakable coin-operated shower. Why don't you take 1 € more and do without the stupid facial expressions. grrrrrr. For hikers like us, the options are quite limited if you want to leave your car parked. ACSI Card is not accepted although ACSI is advertised.

We were there over Easter, very nicely located free tractor for the trailer, sometimes no cell phone reception. Comfort pitch right by the stream. Unfortunately I can only agree with a review from June last year. The operators are not so friendly, you don't have the feeling of being on a place that is... run with heart. Unfortunately, the hygienic conditions in the lower sanitary facilities were not good. No disinfectant or towels were replenished once and they were not wiped down either. The personal complaint on departure met with disinterest.....schade

Ein echter Naturcampingplatz Schafbachmuehle
Waren zu allen Jahreszeiten hier,zuletzt im Febr 2015. Ruhe gibt es reichlich,Natur noch mehr,ein herrlicher Kneippteich auf dem Platz,Wifi und Brötchen gibt es auch. Wem die Toiletten zu klein sind sollte auf das grosszuegigere Sanihaus einige Stufen höher aufsuchen.

Place close to nature + top! Operators could be friendlier
We were there at peak time (Whitsun), despite being fully booked there was plenty of free space and pitches. Terraced hillside location, well separated by vegetation so that you only notice your immediate neighbors. Unobtrusively integrated permanent campers without the otherwise creepy allotment garden... look. Close to nature, very nice tent meadows, average sanitary facilities, which sometimes had no water. Nice excursions possible in the surrounding area (Eifel National Park, Belgium). Operators are a bit stubborn in their philosophy, but on the other hand it's good that there is one: close to nature, not too many campers, not too crowded, etc.! In terms of friendliness and tone, there is still (much) room for improvement...

I would never return to this campsite because of the owner, he acts as if he is the only one, we went camping with three friends, a friend was there with his tent a little earlier than us, he asked if the three of us could pitch together. When we finally arrived it turned out that this was not possible,... not because there was no place but only because the owner did not allow us. he put us 50m apart, because it was so busy we should have booked three months in advance to stand together was his explanation. I asked why we had to stand so far apart because there was nothing at all in between as empty places. This was because he said so and if we did stand closer together he would remove us from the campsite. The whole weekend no one added to the pitches, so to me this is just hard to do just because he thought he could. The plumbing was very far away, apparently there were only two plumbing blocks in the whole campground also the electricity was too far for us to connect, a 100m extension cable I don't drag camping with me. We did have to pay for the connection apparently because we had asked where it was. also there was not a single trash can on the whole campsite, just a container at the entrance that was locked day and night For me this was the worst campsite ever visited
