The front desk is staffed only until 5 p.m. Poor communication; no notice given about the early closing time.
A disaster—never, ever!
We booked an XL site (for our large tandem-axle trailer) and paid in advance. We arrived around 5:30 p.m. only to find that the front desk was already closed.
We received many promotional emails, but none of them mentioned that the front desk closes early or explained what to do in that case.
The restaurant... staff referred us to the “concierge,” who turned out to be a maintenance worker without computer access.
He had a list with our name on it, along with information about our campsite.
This site was not an XL site. We did not receive a refund for the difference in cost.

The restroom building smelled absolutely terrible.

We’ve been camping for 26 years. We’ve never experienced anything like this before.

4-star site with various facilities including bakery and swimming pool. Suitable as a stop-over to the UK just before Calais. Multilingual reception.

Pitches are quite densely packed. No direct connection to the sea (unless we missed something).
Four-star pitch with the typical surrounding area
You certainly have to think about why you come here. We only stayed here once overnight on the way to Calais and are therefore cautious in our assessment because we simply didn't take advantage of many of the facilities (swimming pool, playground). We noticed the rather small pitches and the relatively... short distance to the neighbors. This is of course due to the location near Ostend. You can't get to the sea easily either, it's quite a walk. The coastal streetcar is nice and also takes you to Ostend, where it is otherwise difficult (parking) and expensive (parking) by car. Our overnight pitch was absolutely great! Not as usual on the road or directly at the wash house / entrance but with a view of the water at the edge of the site and a short walk to the wash house. However, this was a pure motorhome site (asphalted). If you are on the way to or from Calais like us, you should definitely ask for the 5000 pitches :-) In July 2016 we paid €31.20 with camper van, electricity and 2 people. Expensive but ok for the offer.

This CP is a little too big for my taste. But otherwise absolutely fine. Our pitch was freshly asphalted, right next to the disposal point for motorhomes. The sanitary building on this part of the site was fairly new and very nice.

Quite a nice campground, but there is a great lack of places for people to deposit their garbage. In addition, the scanty trash cans are emptied far too infrequently. One could work a little more efficiently at the Chip Shop. To employ 2 young people for such a large campsite is really far too little. This also applies to the bakery and store.

Well a fine campground but one shortcoming: there are way too few waste points in the campground!!! Present first week of August, and the hedges between mutual places poorly maintained and not cut! We were with a camper and were put on an expensive (€ 40,-/night) place. This while there were still empty camper places.

Unfortunately, the central buildings (restaurant, gym, swimming pool) are a bit outdated, so they don't look very inviting from the outside. However, there are plenty of play options for children on site. (Bicycle) excursions to the town, the harbor or the beach (approx. 4 km) are definitely worthwhile.... We were also lucky to be close to the apparently newest wash building; this was really worth seeing and imaginative, and there was no charge for showers. We used the campsite to take a break on our trip to the UK and it is really ideally located for this, as it is only a few kilometers from the freeway. All in all, it is certainly a site that we will use as a stop-over on our next trip.

We were very happy to stay at Kompas camping Nieuwpoort. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed the swimmingpools and ,for the children,the very nice playgrounds. It is a perfect place to stay when you like to take a clooser look at the surroundings in Flanders and the north of France. The only thing we... were not so happy about,was that the restaurant and snackbar was not open in the low season...(june) We will visit again,there are a lot to see in Flanders!
