Vakantiepark 't Urkerbos is a true seasonal campground. It felt like 90% of the sites were occupied by seasonal campers. We were assigned a spot in between them. Since the summer holidays in the Netherlands had already ended, we were alone in our section with about 10 other RVs and tents. We didn’t even... see their owners during the first week of September. So it was all quite secluded. The store consisted of a narrow, fairly empty shelf at the reception desk; the advertised bread roll service was only available until August 29, as were the restaurant and the snack bar (which had suddenly reopened on Saturday and Sunday afternoons after all). The restrooms were clean and well-maintained but had a distinct ’80s vibe. It’s certainly a worthwhile place to stay in the summer with kids, but in the first week of September, it was definitely borderline.

The campground has beautiful trees, so everyone can choose between sun and shade as needed. No outside noise. Adjacent wooded area with various trails for walking the dogs. Excellent bike paths lead to the picturesque town of Urk. There’s a snack bar and a fry-up restaurant serving pizza right on the campground. Plenty of activities for kids. Outdoor pool with good rules but no supervision! (Cameras are in place, but there’s no response to serious rule violations.) The motorhomes are well separated from the RVs and tents.

The campground is in a beautiful location. You can get to Urk very quickly by bike. The sites are plenty big. You pay for electricity based on usage—if the connection works. That wasn’t the case for us, and no one addressed the issue during our stay. Luckily, we have solar power, so we were able to make... do. The restroom facilities are a bit sparse but always clean. You can pre-order bread rolls at the front desk. This campground is definitely great for kids, as there are plenty of recreational activities available, plus a pool. However, we didn’t want to spend a longer vacation there, since there isn’t much else to do.

Great place also for motorhomes
The campsite is located in a nature reserve, the Ijsselmeer is too far to walk, no problem by bike. Operators very nice people, we spent some nice days there. Sometimes a bit noisy due to the small swimming pool, but happy children are noisy. You don't have satellite reception everywhere on the motorhome... site, but that's not important. For 16€ a day (ACSI) it is reasonably priced for what is on offer. I will always be happy to return to this site.

The campsite is nicely situated under trees and very close to the lake. We had a pitch near the pool and between permanent campers. There was no peace and quiet. In the early morning it was loud due to a lot of children having fun in the pool and also on the entire campsite. We have children ourselves... but the noise level was very difficult to keep out. I have nothing against it when a fireplace goes on in the evening, but I found it very unpleasant when you can smell the smoke everywhere. The pool water was changed every evening. We would not stay here again.

The first impression was positive, a beautifully laid out campsite with lots of trees and a well-kept lawn. The impression deteriorated drastically over the course of the three weeks. The friendliness of the campsite operators and the tireless efforts of the cleaning staff were positive. Here are the... most serious annoyances: Tourists are accommodated between permanent campers, some of whom consist of families of up to 20 people who crowd the pitches and sanitary facilities. Especially at weekends, they make noise until late into the night. Several open fires in baskets cloud the site and the entire camping equipment smells burnt. There is no peace and quiet at night, vehicles keep coming through the barrier late into the night. As the permitted speed limit of 5 km/h is exceeded by up to 4 times, they cause a lot of dust on the unpaved paths. Numerous permanent campers (estimated 30-40 cars and scooters) drive past the pitches 5-6 times a day to their accommodation and dust everything. Understandably, events are organized at the weekends, such as mini meetings. Up to 80 vehicles with caravans and tents are accommodated on the campsite. All the associated people then occupy the sanitary facilities, which are far undersized for such masses, including dirty toilets. After spending two weeks under the trees, you are warned that the oak trees are full of oak processionary moths. After the two weeks, these dangerous things were then torched - that's where the joy comes in. Every afternoon, the pool and playground are filled with lots of noisy children and adults, including non-residents. We would love to come back.
We (2 adults + 2 children 1 year and 3 years) were there with the tent at the end of August/beginning of September. The pitch was big enough to park the car next to the tent. We were greeted very nicely and every question we had was answered in a friendly manner. Bread roll service in the main season. Everything was clean, a great playground for the children, horses can be stabled. It was very nice there.
