My favorite spot with a great location
The campground is in a truly stunning location between the rocks and the river, offering plenty of shaded spots. The owners are very welcoming, and there are plenty of access points to the Chassezac River, where you can either go for a swim, watch the canoeists or cliff-divers, or find a secluded spot... to relax and unwind. The campground isn’t overcrowded; there are no frills or entertainment programs, and you get a real “back to basics” vibe. The restrooms are a bit older, but they were always clean, and the showers had warm water with good water pressure. Our kids (ages 12 and 15) had a blast cliff-jumping. There’s a cool 1 1/2-hour hike with plenty of scrambling and a cave right from the campground that even our kids—who aren’t usually into hiking—found exciting. You can go on lots of great day trips, for example to Pont d’Arc (40 min) or Balazuc (35 min). This place has stolen my heart, and we’ll definitely be back!!

Very flexible, trustworthy. Everything there, great bread roll (croissant) service Beautiful between rock faces and river - here you can swim 100 m at a time and jump from various rocks or chill out on the stone beach!

Dream camping in the Chassezac Gorge
A small camper's paradise. The location is fantastic, right in the gorge with very varied bathing spots along the river, deep calm water, rocks for jumping, small bays and a different impression every year due to the different water levels. The spots are mostly shady under trees, but those who love the... sun will also find a suitable spot, although this is not necessarily recommended in summer. During the Whitsun vacations in BW and BY, the site is now well occupied by families with children, so if you find this disturbing, you are probably not in good hands on the site at this time, as during the vacation periods in France. There are no permanent campers on this site, I don't know how my previous reviewer came to this statement, but visitors do stay on the site for 1-2 weeks. The individual pitches are large enough, the largest are on the rock face, they are not always square, but adapt to the shape of the pitch and offer enough space for caravans, awnings, cars, motorhomes and extras. If you leave the site towards the back of the gorge, you are immediately in the climbing and hiking area with beautiful interesting paths and small caves to explore, a paradise for children. The small store sells baguettes, flutes, crossaints and pain au chocolat and all the essentials in the morning. Good shopping facilities are in Le Vans, about 10 minutes by car. There are daily markets in the surrounding villages (max. 15 min.). The site is now run by the 3rd generation of the family and the 4th generation has just been born. If you want, you will always find friendly support from the operators, who can be found on the site 24/7 during the season. A wonderful place for excursions in the southern Ardeche region. The restaurant/pizzaria right next door is highly recommended.

The CP is also in the franz. It is still very well frequented in September, mainly by guests from Baden-Württemberg... and a few Bavarians. So you have to be able to put up with Swabians. Most of the guests are climbers, MTB riders and canoeists, but you can also relax on the pebble beach and watch the... cliff jumpers or jump yourself - the water is a dream. Sanitary facilities are old but clean; showers alternate between boiling hot and freezing cold, washing machine partly permanently occupied by long-term campers. Shopping on site overpriced except for bread, the wine too, but it is very good and comes from the neighborhood. Oh yes, the location: a dream. The pitches are shady and a bit cramped. There is a large barbecue for everyone, but it can get a bit noisy near it.
