The second leg of our vacation took us to Lake Plau and thankfully we had the vacation we had hoped for.
The direct location on the lake, even in the "third row", made up for the bad first stage of our vacation.
Peace and... quiet, friendly staff and, above all, nice campers provided the much-needed relaxation. Even our dog liked the stay and the peace and quiet that he wasn't scared all the time.
We really liked the welcome gift for our furry friend, a treat that is rarely given on campsites anymore, even though the prices for pets are being raised everywhere.

The site stretches along a narrow strip of Lake Plau, so the water is not far away for everyone. It is kept natural but still well-kept, catering is provided and the location is ideal for cycling tours... to Plau am See or Malchow. The often-mentioned main road didn't bother us at all, I think it simply depends on where you are and how much the forest protects you from noise. The access to the site is relatively short, more than 2 caravans won't fit, otherwise you're on the main road. The reception is located in a small log cabin. Masks are also compulsory here. Registration was quick and... easy as we had booked in advance. The pitch assigned to us was right by the lake. The fantastic location of the site is its great advantage. The lake itself is very shallow and you have to walk to "Meppen" for the water level to be higher than your swimming trunks. The water is very clear. The site itself feels like it stretches over 2 km along the lake. The sanitary building itself is elevated above the site, and there is also a separate campsite. The sanitary facilities were always clean during our stay. The showers are very small, especially the space in front of the shower itself, it is difficult to change here, or due to the narrowness, the clothes get wet by the shower itself. The water pressure was very low in 2 out of 3 showers. The showers run for 240 seconds, you can turn them off during this time. The 4 minutes are easily enough. There are many hiking and cycling opportunities. The cycle path network is very well developed. For example, we cycled to Waren, Malchow, Plau am See and around Lake Plau. Some of the paths lead through the forest, where secluded bays invite you to swim. We really liked the location of the campsite. The restaurant, however, leaves a lot to be desired, something cold to drink is ok but not recommended for eating. We didn't hear the main road, but up on the Zelzplatz it can be quite disturbing. Shopping facilities are in Plau or in Malchow. The sanitary facilities,... 3 in number, are new, modern and very clean. They are cleaned twice a day. You have direct access to the lake from your pitch. The site is very quiet despite the high occupancy rate. We felt very comfortable and very relaxed. There are bread rolls, newspapers and accessories in the morning. The pub is open from midday.
