Great Campground

We had a really great time at the campground! Super nice people, great long-term campers, and a really cool, relaxed atmosphere. You feel welcome right away and quickly feel like you’re part of the community. 😄

We were here with our kids and dogs and felt completely at home. Everything was clean... and tidy, and the owner is just a great guy—laid-back, helpful, and always up for a laugh. 😉

A campground with heart, great people, and the kind of atmosphere you want when you’re camping. We’ll definitely be back! 🏕️❤️

CP Krautsand Island on the Elbe
The campground is in a great location, right on the Elbe Bike Path; behind the dike, there’s a sandy beach on the Elbe, though signs officially prohibit swimming.
(But with the current hot weather, people don’t give a damn.)
The town and surrounding area are small but charming—almost entirely a tourist... area.

It might turn out to be something, but there’s still a long way to go.
The infrastructure currently under construction takes time—and people would be understanding of that.
The restroom facilities appear clean and relatively new, though traces of mold on the ceilings are noticeable.
The disposal station for chemical toilets is absolutely ridiculous—an anachronism straight out of the “Porta Potti” era.
The electrical wiring in some areas wouldn’t stand up to a professional inspection.

But, organizationally, it should be fine—always!
The information on the website largely doesn’t match the reality on site.
The site map and photos are apparently from a bygone era.
There are apparently no quiet hours; the gate was open 24/7, and lawn mowing is a normal occurrence all day long.
Hammering and loud work are possible until 9:00 p.m.—thanks to “Bagger-Ben.”
There are apparently no site rules.
The campground layout and the visibility of the plots/sites are often unclear.
Upon arrival, after paying in advance, we were assigned a site number, which was only shown on a map, with the note that the site numbers are visible on-site. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case—the site number was nowhere to be found.
No informational materials were provided, such as a site map, site rules, etc.
I then decided on a spot based on the map from memory and set up there. A day later, a female camper arrived in a motorhome and asked where spot XX was. It was the number of the spot assigned to me. (??)
One “unique” incident during my stay was the setup of a “bouncy castle” about 1 meter next to a vacation camper. I could easily imagine the noise pollution it caused throughout the day.

We (2 people) stayed there for 5 days from June 23–28, 2026,
and felt right at home thanks to the very friendly owner and his staff.
A quiet, well-maintained campground right behind the dike, spotlessly clean restrooms, and good Wi-Fi reception everywhere.

It is a small, very nice, cozy and well-kept place.
Highly recommended for children and dogs.
We were here with our children aged 10 and 15.
The 10 year old didn't have to pay anything.
We left our dog at home and it was deducted directly from the bill.
Great service.
Only separated from the Elbe by a dyke.
You can watch ships on the Elbe.
Very friendly and clean.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming, providing useful information about the local area. The toilets and washing facilities were plentiful, scrupulously clean, with lots of lovely hot water. There is a nice bistro on the beach selling great fish-based meals;we tried the rösti & salmon, delicious!

Unfortunately our visit coincided with a Friday night, end-of-the-summer-season Octoberfest party so we had thumping bass til quite late on the one night we stayed there.
Friendly place to stay
A useful stopover if you're travelling through Germany and want to cross the Elbe on the Wisschhafen ferry. The site is well-organised and friendly. But I felt the pitch was quite small and the total cost for just one night was quite expensive.

This was our first time at this campsite as part of our tour of Lower Saxony this year. As we chose this campsite at short notice, my wife called the campsite at around 11.00 am on the day of arrival and asked if we could get a pitch for our caravan. This was promised to us. My wife mentioned that we... would be arriving around 12:30 and asked if this would be possible. This was answered with the comment "we might be on the pitch and we should call through". When we arrived at this time, as expected, there was no one at reception (lunch break from 12.00 noon). We phoned as discussed, but no one answered, so we waited until the end of the break. It turned out that contrary to the previous statement (call through briefly) this was simply ignored. The registration and communication on departure was also quite unusual for us, as the operators' communication skills took some getting used to. This could not be explained by the normal North German reticence, as we did not notice this at the other campsites on our trip. On the whole, the site was clean and well-kept and due to the short time it has been in operation (since January 2025), not everything could be in top condition, but in my opinion the price should not be so ambitious.

-Extremely loud street noise -Noise from adjacent neighboring properties (gardener with power trimmer at 7.30 am, party music with loud bass until late at night) -Campers with up to 4 dogs constantly barking (limit to max. 2 would be desirable) -the owner lets his large dog run around the site unsupervised, which then does its business everywhere and sniffs around on other pitches -the operators sit smoking half the day on the terrace in front of the reception, greetings or friendly words are a matter of luck -sanitary facilities totally outdated with disgusting shower curtains (no door/no privacy), partly moldy -they also ask for a donation for cleaning the toilets... -Reception opening times and availability on the site do not correspond to the times stated
Where do the good ratings come from?
Maybe okay for a stopover, but not again for us. Too noisy and the sanitary facilities do not meet today's standards.

A really great time at the campsite despite the rain
This is a lovingly managed campsite run by a young couple! They work in a structured way to improve the campsite! They are totally personal and nice! There are really great cleaning fairies who really ensure cleanliness all the time!
The bread roll service is great. I think it's great to see how much... fun and imagination and know-how (my husband has his own construction company) they put into renovating the campsite.
Once a week there is a great barbecue in the hut, so everyone gets to talk to everyone else! The fact is we will definitely be back! They were also really nice to our dog (Listen Hund), which of course gives us a good feeling! Keep up the good work...

Top place directly on the Elbe with a great sandy beach
A really great campsite with an excellent location right on the Elbe beach.
The new operators go to great lengths to please every guest and put an incredible amount of work into renovating the site.
There are some pitches with paved terraces as well as grass pitches. There are also beautifully situated grass pitches for guests with tents.
We really felt at home here and it was definitely not our last time here.

We were there in the pre-season. The site has a new operator who is redesigning the site and the facilities and was always open for a chat. We thought it was good that the pitches had a small paved area in front of the motorhome exit. So you didn't sink into the mud when it rained. Sufficient for a table... and two chairs. Always happy to return and we will go there again to see how it has developed. Sightseeing is less suitable. Nearest town about 6 km away.

Arrived late last night after 9pm due to a long wait at the Elbe ferry. Christian arrives despite being off work and gives us a warm welcome. The first impression of the service house is excellent. In the morning we also notice the beautiful maritime design. We stand quietly and dry on a partly gravelled... pitch.

Checking out: we have a friendly, cheerful chat with the site owner.

Thank you for allowing us to relax and unwind here after a turbulent day.

We can recommend this place with a clear conscience.

Like the lady next to me in the shower this morning. She went in with her street shoes and didn't draw the curtains or clean. Everything was full of dirt. The cleaning lady is here every day (even on Sundays) and cleans the dirt off such pigs! Very high praise to her! We were here for 10 days and everything was tip top! Thank you very much.

The hotel in the neighborhood offers a great breakfast buffet daily until 12.oo o'clock, which you could treat yourself to (after pre-ordering) and the Starndgastronomie offers a great ambience for watching ships. I wouldn't necessarily go here with grandchildren, as there isn't enough fun for them, but for everyone else the Paltz and the location are highly recommended. We enjoyed it very much.
