Small but nice campsite
Phare Ouest is a small but beautiful campsite in the old French tradition. I've known the site since I was a child and watched it fall into disrepair towards the beginning of the 2000s. A few years ago, however, the site was taken over by another operator who is bringing it back into shape. During my... visit, the main entrance was still partly under construction, but this didn't detract from the overall impression. By now, the entrance building with reception and kiosk should be finished and shining in new splendor. The staff are friendly and hard-working and are on hand with help and advice. The site is located directly by the sea, but not directly on a bathing beach but rather a "shell-seeking beach". The beach is about 200m away and is easily accessible on foot. The beautiful sandy beaches on the south-western shore of the island are also a good option. These are easy to reach by bike or car. A cycle path leads directly past the campsite so that nothing stands in the way of shopping in the nearest village (approx. 5 minutes by bike). The island's landmark, the Phare de Chassiron, is also within easy reach on foot or by bike. In the evening, its light shines over the square which, in combination with the view of the sea of lights on the mainland coast, creates an incredible atmosphere.
