A lovely little campground
We also used this campground for an overnight stopover on our way back from Brittany because of the good reviews. We were able to choose our own spot and were welcomed warmly. The restrooms are clean and functional. There’s a good area nearby for dogs to run around. I would choose this campground again for an overnight stopover.

Unfortunately, the large pitches, which also have shade, have no electricity. The ones in the middle have electricity and a fresh water connection, but are unfortunately only 100m2 to 120m2 in size and have no shade. The sanitary facilities are good, not separated by gender, toilets with glasses, paper outside. The automatic lighting system switches off quite quickly and so it can happen that you are sitting in the dark for a long time. The campsite has a huge play area, a Kettcar track, sauna/SPA building and is right next to the public swimming pool. WIFI is free at reception, we didn't try it out. We did try the pizzas, which were SUPER GOOD and HUGE. You can also buy very good camping honey. At my incredulous look, the owner of the campsite showed me his bee colony. It is at home on the sauna building and produced 20 kg of honey last year. So honey really from the place. The honey sweets are also great. For those interested in culture, Chartres is very interesting and the famous writer Marcel Proust grew up in the small village where the campsite is located. There is a museum dedicated to him.

This campsite was probably recently taken over or leased out. You can see in every nook and cranny that the campsite has been somewhat neglected in recent years in terms of maintenance. During our visit, however, we got the impression that the new tenant family is apparently busy drawing up plans for... the restoration. The reception is in good condition and even houses a tiny bar in the form of a serving hatch and a few chairs and tables on a small terrace. This is probably enough for a cozy beer while passing through. There is no possibility to order bread rolls or anything similar, and the way to the nearest full-service grocery store is quite long and can only be managed by car. A small flat-roofed pavilion has apparently only recently been built, in which a steam sauna and a small whirlpool have been installed for use. These buildings were completed just as we were visiting. In addition to the pitches, which are separated by hedges and are not too large, but sufficiently spacious, there is a "zone boisée", a "wooded" area whose function is not entirely clear, but which provides nice shade. There are also some mobile homes on the site, but they were not occupied during my stay. Behind the campsite is the outdoor swimming pool with two pools and a diving facility, which is run by the municipal mayor's office. The entrance fee in the 2011 season was just under 5 euros for an adult, which is steep considering the not overly comprehensive service - but the welcome cooling off is well worth it. The staff at the site were friendly, but not over-engaged. Despite a recognizable lack of work, they insisted on the lunch break from 1 to 3 pm (a pitch could be chosen and occupied in advance).
